I noticed that nowhere on the page is either version of John Carter of Mars—in both the novels and the movie, he's depicted as being stronger, more agile, etc. than any native of Barsoom (Mars). Later, Ulysses Paxton/Vad Varo, also from Earth, is shown as having 'superhuman' (relative to the native Martians) strength and speed, although technically John and Varo came from a planet with higher gravity and thicker atmosphere than the world they find themselves on.

Here is a record of something that may be removed in the future, although the first claim is accurate.

  • It would take only 774 years for the 1994 population of 5.6 billion to increase to the point where there were 10 human beings for each square meter of ice free land on the planet. The calculation assumes the 1994 rate of natural increase for the population. After 1900 years at the 1994 rate of growth, the mass of the human population would equal the mass of Earth, and after 6000 years, the mass of the human population would equal the estimated mass of the observable universe. Remember that every time you read a work of science fiction that mentions a ancient race that has had faster than light travel for more than ten thousand years. If we ever figure out superluminal travel(unlikely) the universe is doomed. Zerg rush, zerg rush, zerg rush!
    • Lies, Damned lies and statistics is over this way, sir.
    • No he's right, assuming that all mass could be turned into human flesh, which it can't. But that being said, everything that can't be rendered down into people can be turned into machine parts or in the case of hydrogen spaceship fuel. Kekekekekekekekekekekekekekekekekekekekekekeke!
      • Dibs on first human to defect to the other side and halt our expansionism.
      • Are you calling dibs on being the the first traitorous scum to defect? Or are you calling dibs on being the the first to *Blam* the traitor for heresy against the Emprah?

Ugh, please get rid of the whole thing. It's flagrantly untrue and completely counter to the spirit of the trope.

Is it untrue? I mean obviously you can't disessemble stars or black holes to get access to their mass, but all planetary matter could be consumed in that manner. Although the superluminal travel would have to be near instantaneous to allow humans to spread so far so fast. The math itself checks out(a couple people including Sagan wrote about it). As for it not being in the spirit of the trope I guess it depends on what qualifies as superior. Basically I won't touch it except to remove natter. If you think it should be taken down go for it.

Why we even have RL section? Humans are only known sentient life form. Unless it will be about Homo Sapiens being superior to Neandertals.

Because he know I'm going to go out in this plane and I'm going to remove one of His creations from His universe.

Homo sapiens being superior to Homo neanderthalensis depends largely on your point of view. Neanderthals were in a number of ways better adapted to the Ice Age in which they lived, and were believed to have been physically tougher and stronger than Cro-Magnons. Modern humans ended up on top (and thus surviving) simply because they adapted to the changing climate faster than Neanderthals.

Under Literature referencing Turtledove; About the short story "The road not taken" (Analog Science Fiction in 1985) second paragraph refers to the sequel "Herbig-Haro" (Analog Science Fiction in 1984) writen as Eric Iverson. As you can see it's the other way round, also the race encountered is not ahead of humans by much if at all.

The Wiki is definitive. Reality is frequently inaccurate.

Shouldn't the trope be: "Humans are Superior"? That's the actual quote from the trope-namer and it conforms better with the plethora of other "Humans are..." tropes out there.

Interestingly, the trope namer for this trope has nothing to do with the definition.

In Farscape humanity wasn't superior because humans manage to take over the universe or are genetically superior, it's because we/they/crichton is fast acting, amazingly resourceful, learns fast and doesn't give up. Other races tend to have one or more of these qualities but humanity tends to be...well rounded and determined.

We need a "Useful Notes: Why Humanity is Awesome" page. As far as this trope and its brethren go, they do fine on the "examples for the example throne" part, but should I get the urge to feel a little human patriotism, it's really hard to find all the bits and pieces scattered around. Be nice if they were all in one place, with a bit more analytical data than you could get in just an ordinary trope page. Ideally, it'd be less "derp derp humanity is smart and run good" and more "FOX 12 gene mutations grant humanity superior communication skills, etc." Specific facts instead of generalities, that sort of thing. I dunno... I was just looking at the Other Wiki's page for humanity and felt like I just read a robot's description of an ant... it wasn't "humanity sucks," just "humanity is... boring... and very unimportant, with few unusual traits to speak of." I don't know who writes those entries over there, but I sincerely doubt they are native to this planet. We need to show 'em how it's done. FOR THE EMPEROR, GENTLEMEN! FOR MANKIND!

We don't need such page, unless we make page "Useful Notes: Why Humanans Sucks" to balance it.

I really like Wikipedia article because it look like not writen from human perspective.

Did only I hate those tropes Humans Are Special and Humanity Is Superior ? (Probably yes beacause Most Tropers Are Human )

Edited by DeathCloud Because he know I'm going to go out in this plane and I'm going to remove one of His creations from His universe.

I also dislike those tropes, and the fact that so many tropers seem inclined to agree with them. Pretentiousness and narcissism are always annoying.
