Chick Tract entry: At one point, the tiny HIV retrovirus could pass through microscopic pores in condoms, since sperm and STD microbes are much bigger and HIV was unknown. Manufacturers aren't stupid, though, and once they learned of HIV's existence and mode of transmission, they changed the manufacturing so the condoms blocked the retrovirus as well. Chick Tract is VERY bad about not keeping up with modern methods of doing -well pretty much anything.

One question has bugged me: how can anyone say with such certainty that the majority of failures are from misuse? The product users aren't there when it happens, and even if the user misuses once or twice, there's no guarantee that that's the time conception occurred. Without concrete proof of misuse, this seems more like a ploy to make the product look more effective than it really is. In fact, statistics say that the 97-98% rate is for "perfect" use with no misuse, and normal use has a rate around 85%.
