It seems this is actually two tropes mashed into one: Crossroads as a magic place where you meet the devil or other supernatural beings, and a road fork where you make a decision on where you want to go.
The page quote ("The Road Not Taken") clearly describes a "fork in the road" as a symbol of an important decision, as opposed to a crossroads as a scene of magical rituals or encounters. Either the quote is not very good, or Fork In The Road is simply a different trope from At the Crossroads.
