It's possible that Jamie may be transgender and/or nonbinary.

I didn't notice anything at first, but one of the motivations for why Jamie would take the indignity of becoming a fudmud (i'm not bothering with finding the umlaut) deliverator is because if they didn't, then their roommates would have to move back in with their parents, who would deadname them. This is a situation that Jamie considers so abhorrent that they insist on becoming the sole breadwinner for an apartment of 3. There isn't really much more establishing motivation for why Jamie is so close to these 2 other guys, so all the motivation we get is that Jamie just takes deadnaming THAT seriously, even on behalf of others, even as they insist they're okay with it, which...is strange if they're cis, isn't it?

After that, I tried to see if there were any indications of them being referred to by pronouns, but I think the book mostly avoids it. The closest it comes is during the ceremony scene where Jamie is bestowed a "The Worlds Okayest Dad" mug, which they comment is inaccurate "for many reasons". In fact, during that part, Niamh's and Aparna's pronouns get dropped as their speech is made, but when it comes to Jaime, the dialogue avoids referring to Jaime in the third person. I could be wrong and have missed something, but I think the whole book avoids referencing Jaime in the third person.

So...idk, should the main page be referring to Jamie with He/him pronouns? The thing is, it's possible, but it could be that Jamie is a "They/Them" kind of person. Anyone find any instance in the book of Jaime's pronouns being established?
