Yeah, I think it counts as a deconstruction. At the beginning of the story, we see how ruthless and violent cultivator sects can be through Jin’s memories, and later through Xiulan’s POV. Through the POV of various baseline humans like the Magistrate and Meiling, we see how terrifying cultivators are to non-cultivators. If it weren’t for Jin’s intervention, then that one asshole cultivator would have RAPED Meiling’s friend with no consequences.
Also, the Spirit Of The Land was mutilated by power-hungry cultivators thousands of years ago, and is now only recovering because of Jin’s efforts.
Not to mention Jin’s grandpa is a high level cultivator. He gave Jin a little bit of knowledge about cultivation, then just left his own GRANDSON, without even staying in contact. Jin thinks his grandpa is dead. Not a shining presentation of cultivators. I could go on, but I think this covers it.

Deconstruction or nah? I think this fits the description of one, considering the tone of the book, but I'm not quite sure. Does anyone have any thoughts about this?
