Does anyone know the episode where they do a GTA race and it's a really really long race and at one point Tom and Turps (I think) say: "There's a lap two?!" "What." "Nah, just kidding."

I've been trying to remember for months.

A quick question, but why isn't there a fanfiction recommendation page yet? The Yogscast fanbase has grown to a point where it has spawned some well-written fanfics along with the usual crap, and I'm surprised that there's not one yet (to be honest I just want recs to good fanfics instead of the usual go-in-hope-it's-good dumpster dive that happens).

Presumably because nobody has bothered to make one yet. If you or anyone else wants to do so, feel free to start editing at FanficRecs.Yogscast.

That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.

A question, because I can't figure this out immediately from TGS' You Tube page: are the entire Yogscast part of The Game Station/Polaris, or is it just Lewis and Simon?

Does Sips really swear that frequently, or was it just a couple of videos in the livestream that he "Carpet F Bombed"?

I haven't done any statistics, but in the Tekkit videos he really stands out with his swearing. He tends to put them in just the right places, as well.

Question before I add Country Matters as a trope, did the Yogscast or YoGPoD ever use the c-word unbleeped in earlier episodes, or did I imagine that?

Adult Child has been renamed to One of the Kids. In order for this to be an example of the trope, the character's childishness has to be from or demonstrated by interacting with children. This example can be added back with context relevant to the trope if it fits.

"Lampshaded in a story Simon told where forgot how he actually spoke in Real Life and yelled out things like orders for food in his Grizwald voice for a couple of weeks."

Do you think it should say what Youtube video / Yogpod that was in? It'd help enormously in case people decided to try and look for that story. I know I've looked.

I'm planning on making a new page for the Yogscast Minecraft content. The list of tropes for the Minecraft Adventures has gotten long enough to warrant its own page (+ character page which was discussed before but never appeared) and it'll only get longer as the series continues. My question is if anyone thinks the page should only include tropes relevant to the main storyline or if all the custom map and mod spotlights should be included as well.

I'd say Minecraft Adventures with tie-ins. For example, the desert survival map and Granny Bacon's funeral. Probably the Update Overview stuff, since Old_Peculiar is there.

The unconnected Minecraft stuff is straight-up LP, so it fits better with the rest of their stuff.

And perhaps the Professor Grizwald maps since he does become a character in the Legend of Verigan livestream and either his supplies or his remains are found at Lehparsi's tomb?

I was actually brainstorming how to split the page a while ago. I think Shadow Of Israphel should be its own page, with a soft split (like how the current page is) for unrelated mods (Aether Mod, etc). I think that everything that ties into the Shadow Of Israphel, like Crazy Canopy Carnage (or whatever it was called), the update overviews with NPCs, etc. should be the main part of the page.

For the Characters page, have Characters/{{Yogscast}} be a redirect to Characters/ShadowOfIsraphel, with every single person in either the Yogscast or Shadow Of Israphel on that page, listing Shadow Of Israphel characters (Simon & Lewis, then the NPCs) first. Or maybe vice versa.

The thing is, a lot of the Yogscast's personality is from things outside of the Shadow Of Israphel series, so I think the two character pages should be the one and same; Simon and Lewis spend a lot of their later YoGPoDs, for example, talking about stuff they're working on for Shadow Of Israphel. Maybe make a note on the Shadow Of Israphel page saying "For tropes related to Simon, Lewis, Hannah, or the rest of the Yogscast, go to either the Yogscast page or the characters page."

Of course, this is just my brainstorming. The page should probably follow a format like a multiple-adaptation series, i.e. Harry Potter, where the works, while seperate, are fairly connected in terms of wiki pages.

Perhaps the sections would be: Tropes that apply to all of the Minecraft videos, Tropes that only apply to the Shadow of Israphel, and Tropes that only apply to their Custom map and mod spotlights

I think that's how it's done when there is a book and a movie adapted from the book. And for the character page I think you mean have one page and have both the Yogscast page and the Minecraft Adventures page link to that page. Then break that into sections, first with the main Yogscast (Lewis, Simon, Hanna) and then the Shadow of Israphel exclusive characters (Israphel, Knight_Peculier, Skylord_Lysander, ETC.) Sounds neat and tidy enough. :)

p.s. Is Shadow of Israphel the page name we're going with or should we change that to Minecraft Adventures?

If it's all of the Minecraft stuff (including seasons 1 and 2), then it's not going on Shadow Of Israphel. Though where is the phrase "Minecraft Adventures" actually from?

@sbx Yup, you understood my intent completely. I was actually not thinking of creating a third section in the main page for "tropes that apply to all of the Minecraft videos", but your idea works better.

And yeah, I have no idea what to name the actual page. Shadow Of Israphel was the idea because even though the series wasn't formally named that in the first season, it might as well have been a huge set up for it (new watchers would think that anyway, but I guess it would be kind of inaccurate since the first season was just a straight Let's Play with some griefing guildmates and the second season barely segued into the main series at the end).

I think Minecraft Adventures was just the original name for the header when the page was created.

sbx Since: Jun, 2010

I actually don't know where Minecraft Adventures came from either. After I checked the Youtube channel I realized the under 'Show' it's just referred to as 'Minecraft' while under 'Playlists' it's 'Minecraft Survival Multiplayer'. I saw 'Minecraft Adventures' here on Tvtropes and it kind of made sense as a catch-all term for all of the Yogscast Minecraft videos.

I suppose 'Shadow of Israphel' is as good a name as any. Any other name might confuse other people who aren't familiar with the Yogscast. Most of the map and mod spotlights do either get a mention or play an important part in the main series anyway (Prof. Griswald and the planes mod specifically).

OldManHoOh Since: Jul, 2010

Because Shadow of Israphel is ONLY billed as 29 episodes, a funeral and the Legend of Verigan special, I have to decline lumping all Yogscast Minecraft content in a Shadow of Israphel page, that's counter-intuitive to fans as well as non-fans.

sbx Since: Jun, 2010
Jul 28th 2011 at 6:18:54 PM •••

How about "Yogscast Minecraft Series". The Yogscast wiki calls their Minecraft videos that. It also refers to Season 1, the Survival Island part of Season 2, and the Shadow of Israphel episodes of Season 3 as the "Israphel Saga".

Darkaros Since: Jul, 2009
Jul 29th 2011 at 2:19:27 PM •••

^ Sounds like the most agreeable option, though kind of generic. I guess we can make the page and then soft split it as needed with "Season 1", "Season 2", etc. if we wanted to. Making Shadow Of Israphel a redirect would also improve searchability and not make the entire page about the series.

I'm okay with this title.

I'd probably go for Yogscast Minecraft or Yogscast Minecraft Series. Can't really think of anything else, because it doesn't really have an umbrella title beyond "Minecraft".

No, wait, it'll probably cause an edit conflict if I don't mention it: I'm currently moving examples on this page, while Darkaros moves the wicks.

Darkaros Since: Jul, 2009
Jul 30th 2011 at 9:09:50 AM •••

Ok, wicks all fixed. I tried keeping the links to both the Yogscast and the Yogscast Minecraft Series if possible. A lot of descriptions actually worked out better with "Shadow Of Israphel" as the link, since the original description refered to the entire series as such. Someone check over the new wicks to the Yogscast Minecraft Series if they're bored.

Edit: Yeah, I'm not touching the examples on this page since it's bound to cause editing conflicts. I'll take over if needed though. There's going to be a lot of notepad use if the examples are going to be separated into the 3 sections on the new page correctly.

Well, it's currently called Minecraft Adventures, so I think we might as well put them there (a lot of tropes only apply there anyway).

I think a split might be needed soon for Shadow Of Israphel exclusive tropes, though, with other Minecraft maps remaining on this page; it's a bit weird having a creator page also listed as a machinima, and the page is getting large enough to warrant a split.

I want to dispute the Fridge Horror entry for this. Anyone familiar with the game knows there's no way to make your character change full outward appearance without changing the entire character's skin. My issue is that the fact that "Granny_Bacon looked somewhat chunky and thus was a zombie underneath armor all along" seems a lot more like a Chekhov's(x) more than Fridge Horror - it's an acting technique they used to make Granny_Bacon's "turning into a zombie" both 1) more dramatic and 2) possible to show in-game without having to do video editing. I think that we're more supposed to believe it the way the way the story portrays: she was normal, until she got turned into a zombie, and we should handwave the fact that her character model used a "Zombie" character skin underneath.

tl;dr Granny_Bacon was never supposed to be portrayed as "always a zombie", and the zombie-character-skin-underneath is supposed to be a stage device.

So, I propose removal of said entry.

To expand, I do agree with the entry saying "the granny appearance was armor" as in, that's the stage device they're using, but I heavily disagree with the entry saying "she was a zombie all along" - I don't believe we're supposed to take it that way. Otherwise, why would they hold a funeral for her, as well as give her parts in the backstory (in later episodes of "Shadow of Israphel")? Are you saying she was still a zombie way back then, even when she had her grandchild Father_Braeburn?

I don't think it's canon that she was always a zombie. It just doesn't work with what's shown in the story.

Agreed, that entry always bugged me.

No idea what the trope would be beside a broad and rather general "Chekhov's Gun" though.
