Topic created because I haven't read any of the SoE1 stories save American Dream, and have stopped reading that because of extenuating private circumstances.
Helping w/general tropes and LHOK, need some time with the others and definitely need to work out details (like crowning moments of whatever).
Currently reading through SOE 2 Dark Lady Of Tokyo 3. Hopefully I'll have some tropes for that when I'm done.
Edited by 216.99.32.43Not yet. I did however read through Superwomen of Eva 2: The Ultimate Rush and it now has a trope page.
OK, started the Treacherous Web page. I will apologize for the excessive crudeness of it-I started it quite late at night, and I was (well, am) tired.
What tropes should be added to the main page, and what tropes should be added to specific story pages?
Hide / Show RepliesI was thinking whether or not to add Outside-Context Villain to the main Tropes page (written as "Outside Context Heroine"). This is because NERV (and at least half the time SEELE) is unprepared to deal with a superheroine and the chaos she brings to the table. Of course, Gendo keeps on soldiering on with his beloved scenario (just pinning a kill order for the superwoman to the plan) and trying to find a way to kill said superwoman-on some fics it's researching and developing some way to bring the hurt to them, on some fics it's by bringing someone who is better prepared to deal with them (like, say, Deathstroke) into the fold of his conspiracy, and on some he just gets lucky on finding something which can level the field (like a Yellow Lantern Ring). Which, in broad strokes, fits the description of an Outside Context Character as it reads on the Tropes page.
Like I said, there's several fics where SEELE has something that can deal with the superwoman (like having Klarion on their payroll on Maya's SOE 2 fic), but they take their time to bring it out because they don't want to show their hand to Gendo.
Sounds reasonable, but I'm not sure it counts because the OCP are the protagonists. It would probably be better to add the pages where it specifically comes into play.
It's a borderline Running Gag throughout the stories. The ones where SEELE has preparedness are "Magic Touch" (with Klarion), apparently "Lone Heir" (at least, that's what I get from their cryptic talking), and also apparently "Treacherous Web" (which has Gendo getting killed by Ritsuko early on, but he's replaced by SEELE puppet Wilson Fisk (The Kingpin, a Genre Savvy Magnificent Bastard a hell of a lot more cruel that Gendo could have been short of becoming as crazy as Norman Osborn) in a good example of Nice Job Breaking It, Hero). The only story where a superwoman starts off working for NERV is "Emerald Fury" (and because that Superwoman is The Incredible Hulk, you know that it's going to end up badly for Gendo anyway because he just cannot really estimate how strong "the strongest one there is" really can become).
All other stories, like I said, have at least Gendo rushing to find a way to adapt to the additional problem to his "scenario" which are the Superwomen. Some others have SEELE just thinking that tossing the whole of the JSSDF and the Mass Production Evas will be enough to take everybody out... and while it is a pretty savage fight, it's unfortunately not the curb-stomp that they thought would be.
Edited by 216.99.32.44Added first draft of the Outside-Context Villain (renamed as "heroine") on the general Tropes page.
Think we need to do something regarding the Tokyo Tattler, which appears on several of the fanfics. They are pretty much a bunch of poor bastards trying to be a Hot Scoop and Intrepid Reporter.
What pages for specific stories are being created, and which ones need work?
