I just finished reading what there is of the fic so far, and I can't find any reference to the sinister goings-on at the institute as described by the main page. Is this some bizarre kind of wiki vandalism? Is the current story an ongoing rewrite of a deleted older version? How am I missing something this huge?

I was about to say the same thing. There's even an exact quote that I never saw while reading the fic. I'm tempted to delete it because it's not in the story I just read.

The History tab says that all the stuff about lobotomization was added by Nathanoraptor.
