A couple of happenings on the Creatures character index:

The "I to L" critters page has developed a blue size warning (I think that means it's becoming very long, while I remember seeing red when an article was definitely too long, unless that has since changed). The creature entries amount to 98 pages when I copy-paste the source into Word, but page 49 is smack in the middle of the "K" section.

It's just an awkward breakdown - the "I" section is 21 pages, "J" runs from 21 to 31, "K" from 31 to 62, and "L" from 62 to 98. With a clean split impossible, it's either break the page into "I to J", "K" and "L" creature pages, or just go all-out and give each letter its own page.

The 'Undead' page has also had a blue warning for a while, and no one's responded to my discussion on that page yet, so I'll repeat it here - I really don't like the idea of having "Undead," "More Undead," and eventually "Even More Undead" pages, I don't want to revive the "pages for each creature type" situation. And since there is a "Creature Types" page available to put all the common undead tropes on, I'd argue there's no point to putting the undead on their own page(s). I'm thus proposing that those entries be distributed into the main creature index and the Undead page be decommissioned, however that process works.

Meanwhile, the "[True] Dragons" page does not have a size warning yet, but at 243,686 characters (when the "I to L" page warning comes from having 246,066 characters), it's getting close. And as I said on that page's discussion, I'm feeling kind of stumped regarding how to handle this eventual split.

Splitting the page at its halfway point, between the lung dragons and space dragon families, feels pretty arbitrary, but splitting based on something like "dragons with rules for the current edition" and "legacy dragons" requires migrating entries when new sourcebooks come out and would break up dragon families like the Spelljammer dragons. Another idea I had was to have the general dragon tropes and three "core" dragon families (pages 1-28), as well as the miscellaneous and undead dragons (pages 70-94), on one page, and then put the other dragon families (pages 28-70) on another "Additional Dragon Families" page. It's not the cleanest of splits, giving the "main" Dragons page 52 pages and the "Additional Dragon Families" 42, but at least it's less arbitrary? Or maybe a different kind of arbitrary.

I'm also eyeing the "Playable Races" page nervously, but despite having 273,964 characters on it, there's no warning yet. Must be the difference between paragraphs of normal text and a bunch of wiki words and pictures.

EDIT: Oh, and golems. Their folder amounts to 18 Word pages on its own, larger than the yugoloth subpage, and there are still plenty of golem varieties not yet included in it. Since navigation is becoming an issue and will only become a larger problem as time goes on, I don't think it's unreasonable to give golems their own subpage.

So, I noticed in the navbox on some of the pages, such as in the Beholderkin page, Giants, etc., there's no link to Dungeons And Dragons Crossover Creatures. I've already done some of them, but if anyone can help me out with the rest, I'd really appreciate it.

Given the sheer number of subpages that there are now, and how difficult they are to get to from any page other than this one, I have taken it upon myself to create a navbox for ease of navigation between the various D&D character pages as they currently exist.

If nobody objects within a day or so, I will start adding it to the other character pages.

It's a great navbox, but it's getting pretty big (especially after some lunatic expanded the "creatures" section across nearly every letter of the alphabet). Would it be possible to start 'minimizing' parts of it, so for example someone on one of the Deities subpages would only see "Classes," "Creatures," all the other "Deities" subpages, and "Campaign Settings?" While this would make it harder for someone to go straight from the tarrasque's creature entry to Ravenloft: The Carnival, it would reduce the odds of a page having to be split because its header has grown to the point that it's pushed over the text limit.

That would probably be for the best, honestly. I'll see what I can do.

The navbox has been minimized on every page except for on the various Creatures subpages, and on the main D&D characters page.

Many thanks. I'll see to the Creatures subpages during my next pass through them.
