Okay, the Reality Ensues and Shown Their Work entries have really... tenuous examples. Some are fine, others definitely need to either be reworked or cut entirely.

Reality Ensues isn't "there is a realistic element" (that would be covered by Like Reality, Unless Noted, it's characters expecting things to work in fantastic way and/or audiences expecting it to, only to be undermined by a realistic reversal.

  • Reality Ensues:
    • Riku is more than excited to get into Gunpla Battles, but unlike Sei or Sekai, he's only devoted to two hours of play time a day and only after finishing his homework.
      • Realistic? Yes. But where's the "ensues" part? If anything it would be an inversion since he quickly becomes a world class player anyway.
    • As with many actual MMOs, Riku and Yukio end up dealing with Real Money Transfer-peddlers and Trolls who seek to ruin a beginner player's experience by ambushing them, forcing them into fights and try to overpower them with their superior weapons. In fact, Magee is terrified that Riku and Yukio's experience was ruined by all of this.
      • Ditto. "Some element is vaguely realistic" isn't the trope. I think it might be at play here as I vaguely remember Riku and Yukio being "aw gee whiz!" and thinking the game would be all sparkles and fun, but the entry doesn't dive into the unrealistic expectation thus isn't an example as-written.
    • Giant Robot Hands Save Lives, but they don't have seatbelts as Riku accidentally dumps Yukio and Sarah after performing a spin in midair.
      • This is valid.
    • Beginners and low-tier players are highly susceptible to becoming users of cheats, to feel powerful immediately and mask their crippling flaws instead of trying to overcome them. As such, once the Break Decal system disseminates throughout GBN, Mass Divers start flooding the world like crazy.
      • Where's the unrealistic expectation here?
    • Momoka learns the hard way that realism also works in the GBN world as her rental Kapool drops like a stone after launch - whoever built the rental Kapool never gave it flight capabilities.
    • In Episode 5, the fake Shahryar learns the hard way that sand and technology don't mix when he finds out his Gunpla can't move due to sand having gotten stuck in the machinery.
      • Probably an example? I don't remember it, to be honest
    • Also in episode 5, the fake Shahryar nearly bullshitted his way into saying that the hideous-looking Xamdrag custom is fine art, which occurs in Real Life modern art discussions often at a disturbing pace, making up symbolism and visual metaphors to insist that low-effort pieces are actually powerful works.
      • ... apart from a weird aside of art criticism criticism, again there's no set-up.
    • In episode 6, Koichi ends up abandoning Gunpla Battle because his friends had abandoned Gunpla Duel in favor of GBN. Peoples' taste in hobbies change all the time and such a drastic shift can really put others off, especially if they're forced.
      • I can maybe see an example here if the narrative puts forward a "we'll be friends forever!" thing but it isn't established, at least in the example.
    • A more humorous example in Episode 6: the main characters are ready to submit their force after Koichi decides to join, only to find out that Koichi doesn't have a high enough rank to make it work, since he hadn't spent a lot of time in GBN.
      • This is a good example. It establishes what's expected, and establishes why it's realistic that it didn't happen. I might embellish it a bit, but it's otherwise good.
    • In the Bearguy Event, someone piloting an EWAC Zack tries to reach one of the treasures hidden inside a narrow cave only to get stuck due to the machines large head.
      • More Logical Weakness as it's not reality that "the giant robot head is huge" nor is it set up before
    • It's been firmly established that GBN's administration is pathetically negligent in dealing with the Break Decal situation in-universe. This is exactly how MMOs work in Japan.
    • Episode 11 clarifies that the mercenaries hired by Tsukasa don’t care about GBN and are just there for profit. Their lack of knowledge about the canon of the Gundam franchise and the gimmicks of certain Mobile Suits proves to be the undoing of one of them, when Ayame uses her Zeromaru's NT-D Mode to take over his MP Qubeley's funnels.
      • Excellent set up and payoff, but again it's Logical Weakness which as the Reality Ensues page points out, is basically "logical fantastic rules ensue."
    • In Episode 15, we learn that, just because you're part of the top-two ranked teams in the entire game, new missions that require thought will still overwhelm you as Avalon and the 7th Panzer Division are unable to complete the Lotus Challenge multiple times. As well, brute force min-maxing won't win jack if your opponent is ready for anything as a team of five Gundam Xs and two colony-busting weapons couldn't deal any damage with such powerful defenses.
      • I don't even know if this is Logical Weakness, the show actually has been pretty consistent that brute force isn't infallible and that even top players aren't Physical Gods.
    • Episode 19 has this trope hit Rose like a wet fish. When she's given a choice of any Gunpla to build at the first checkpoint, she ends up choosing the Master Grade Sazabi ver. Ka, a Gunpla noted for its complexity and time to build, while everyone else chose Beargguys, Haros or Balls. At the second checkpoint, Rose thinks the Gunpla Sumo match is going to be a simple match and chooses a Neue Ziel. However, the suits are puppet sumos and her choice, with no legs, huge shoulders and large binder tail, makes her unstable and fall over, allowing everyone to beat her.
  • Shown Their Work: All shots of the 1:1 Unicorn Gundam outside Diver Base show it carrying a rifle and shield, which the real Unicorn Gundam doesn't have... yet. It's because the whole show is 20 Minutes into the Future.
    • Good entry.
    • Also true with regards to MMO norms, at least. GBN recognizes themed guilds exist, as well as guilds that are just groups of friends, both of which are true to life. It also shows how an MMO type game can be a source of stress as opposed to enjoyment, when new or low tier players feel feel frustration over their inability to climb the ranks or stay relevant. It shows how such games can be fun, but also full of cheaters, griefers, and scammers. It even accurately depicts guild drama with Le Chat Noir and its slow disbandment.
      • These boil down to "themed guilds exist," "there can be drama in guilds and games," and "bad people exist." All of which are so basic I don't think that work was shown. Especially since, you know, all of these existed in earlier Gundam Build series about a wholly fictional sport.

The Episode 5 thing about sand gunking up the works on the fake Sharhya's Gunpla did actually happen. Although, it might be an example of Unexpectedly Realistic Gameplay as well.
