Creator.CN Real was remade from Main.CN Real once the snark subsided, but it's still locked.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe. There are some members of the Permanent Red Link Club that I believe could leave the club, as the TV Tropes community is now much more mature than when the following pages were deleted:
- NightmareFuel.Barney And Friends: Although Barney & Friends is a Sweet Dreams Fuel show, the Nightmare Fuel cleanup happened many years ago.
- Creator.Christian Weston Chandler and Creator.Christine Weston Chandler: As Mewtron mentioned above, the Creator.CN Real page was recreated in 2020 with a much less complaining-sounding tone.
- WMG.Cartoon Network: Same.
- UsefulNotes.Conspiracy Theories: Despite their controversial nature leading to the page joining the Club, I do believe the main page should've just been rewritten to define the term.
- Horrible.Web Original and Horrible.Web Video: The existing SBIH pages currently do not suffer the edit warring and flaming that plagued these pages.
- Keeping a disclaimer saying that "Troper Tales has been removed because it's nothing of value" is rather pointless, as the reason for its removal is also on the TV Tropes Glossary and FAQ. The page is locked anyway, so it's not like people can start Troper Tales back up if the disclaimer is cut.
- Do we really need a hard-coded redirect on the former Porn Tropes page? If it should be gone, just PRLC it; a hard-coded redirect to The Content Policy isn't necessary in this situation.
The reason the CWC pages are permanently cut is because we have a specific rule not to discuss her as a person on this site due to how uniquely inflammatory she is. We only need to talk about her work, and that's covered enough by the existence of the Sonichu page.
The SBIH pages don't need to come back because there is no professional standard by which we judge most web content and thus it'll be too risky to try and keep civil.
Edited by mightymewtron I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe. Why did the staff request that ImageLinks.Snuff Film be added to the PRLC?
Edited by opal6561 Am I that troper? Maybe, maybe not, the world will never know. Hide / Show RepliesPresumably because the trope is about real footage of people dying and we don't want images of that on the wiki. Perhaps that should be clarified on the entry.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe. While understandable, preferably the reasoning should be clear.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupI think we should add Kiwi Farms to this list since we have no reason to give a major doxing/harassment site linked to three deaths publicity, either bad or good. (Yes, I'm aware they've been deplatformed and are no longer accessible on the clearnet)
1,000 years from now there will be no guys and no girls, just wankers. Hide / Show RepliesThere's no reason to add things here preemptively, nor a publicity is really a problem (we have creator and work pages that are at best controversial). If someone tries to create the page, it will likely have violations of some sort which would justify adding it here.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupHas Boku no Pico been added to this list? Just wondering.
Trans rights are human rights! Hide / Show RepliesI believe that falls under "Pages cut under the Content Policy" because it's an underage porn work.
Edited by mightymewtron I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.Linking to a past Trope Repair Shop thread that dealt with this page: Question for Locked Pages and Permanent Red Link Club, started by JackMackerel on Jan 17th 2011 at 1:49:33 AM
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanWill the documentary "Leaving Neverland" (about the pedophilia allegations regarding Michael Jackson) and the French drama film "Cuties" (intended to criticize the hypersexualization of pre-adolescent girls) have to be part of the Permanent Red Link Club? Both of them have been very controversial as is. I can't see anyone being able to edit trope pages for both of them without bias, especially in regards to the latter, which got Netflix in hot water after how they advertised it and led to people on the Internet calling for Netflix's cancellation.
None of these deliberate redlinks are redlinks anymore, so they don't fit on this page. I've put an update on Locked Pages as well.
- Heroic Sociopath: Attracted massive Trope Decay before a split. The page itself still exists as a disambiguation to help with cleaning up the remaining wicks.
- If You Know What I Mean: the former name for Lampshaded Double Entendre. This led to tropers potholing their own double entendres to this article, leading to a rename. Kept for inbounds.
- Hot Dad and Hot Mom: Massive misuse and Zero Context Examples led these to be turned into disambiguation pages for several more-specific tropes that involve the concepts.
- It Got Worse and It Gets Worse: The trope was defined as "a terrible situation getting some final perfect push over the edge". It attracted massive sinkholes and misuse. Renamed to From Bad to Worse.
- No. Just... No: Originally created for a character's reaction to a Squicky moment or a highly disagreeable statement, it got misused as a pothole for editors inserting their own reaction to what was in other trope examples. In-Universe examples were moved to "No. Just… No" Reaction.
- This Troper: The page itself has always said to avoid using first-person writing (the phrase being a euphemism for "me" or "I"), but people linking to it either didn't read the article, or simply rebelled against it. Even in designated areas, it's usually better to Pot Hole it to the contributor page...even if you don't have a contributor page. Better yet, avoid talking about yourself at all.
Why isn't Horrible/Fan Film in the Permanent Red Link Club?
Hide / Show RepliesUse this thread to ask for it to be added.
EDIT: Sorry. I have no idea why it goes to a 404 page.
Edited by FridgeGuy2016 Limpin' with the bizkit. What about tropes that used to have Real Life subpages before they became No Real Life Examples, Please!? Do said subpages join this club?
Edited by FridgeGuy2016 Limpin' with the bizkit. Hide / Show RepliesI honestly think that they should, but that's ultimately a decision probably best left to the moderators.
It seems Narm used to have a Real Life subpage before it was made NRLEP. If so, then shouldn't the former RL subpages for Disproportionate Retribution, Foreshadowing, and Nightmare Fuel also be listed here?
Limpin' with the bizkit.So... the So Bad Its Horrible Software page was cut due to Idiot Programming being a trope, but that's part of the red link club, too?
Hide / Show RepliesIt's just the "Main" namespaces for both pages that were cut. They still have pages on the Darth Wiki.
Even without a Main/ redirect, the existence of DarthWiki.Idiot Programming would have made links to Main.Idiot Programming appear blue until the 1.8 site update, which occurred this year and fixed an issue previously brought up on this discussion page. It looks like links to nonexistent pages still appear blue on discussion pages, though.
Edited by GastonRabbit Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.Parvum Opus and Selective Squick haven't been added to the Red Link Club even though they've long been cut; should they be added? If not, why?
Hide / Show RepliesThis isn't just for any cut page. It's for cut pages that that the mods and admins absolutely don't want to come back.
Edited by GastonRabbit Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.I am not familiar with Zelda, but is it possible to wield a club in it ? If true, it would be a better pun to use an image there red Link wields a club.
Hide / Show RepliesI know that this thread is a few years old, but as of 2017 Link can wield a club while wearing clothes that are dyed red.
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.I don't remember sliding scale of antiheroes being problematic. I remember one user saying that it should be broken into individual tropes and that decision winning a crowner, the policy to change every type number to a link to one of the resulting pages but not one "problem" that suggested making the page a functioning red link to a redirect. I participated in the the whole thing, around the same time zero content examples got the % treatment.
That's why he wants you to have the money. Not so you can buy 14 Cadillacs but so you can help build up the wastes Hide / Show RepliesIf memory serves, people kept linking to the page even after the redirection.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanAs I was looking through, I noticed that some actually appear as blue links. Clicking one leads to some disambiguation pages for other subpages on the subject. Is there a way to resolve this?
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope Report Hide / Show RepliesNot with the current software.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanMain.Pretty Cool Guy needs to be redlinked again.
Hide / Show RepliesCan't be done. The page collides with the title of a troper page.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI know this is an unpopular opinion, but I still think we should reconsider Horrible/Fanfic, which I thought was one of the most entertaining articles on the wiki. Perhaps with tighter restrictions, as several (SEVERAL, not all or even most — I know it was a considerable problem pre-locking.) of the fics there were horrible for reasons that DON'T violate the 5P.
"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — Ultimatepheer Hide / Show RepliesThat'd be something for the Five P to decide, I think.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanYes. What would be the problem if we just made "don't include Rule 34 works" a rule for the page, likely commented at the top as a reminder, just like we don't list pornographic works in trope pages anymore? I hope they consider that, as we already do similar things warning against certain types of examples in several pages.
I can't petition them using the provided platform, unfortunately, as I'm not ready to ask for my posting privileges back.
Edited by BaffleBlend "It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerI'll ask about this.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThanks. I'm gonna' take a scrub through the Internet Archive of the old article so I can filter out all the sexually explicit/backhanded recommendation/author bashing ones so, if it's successfully allowed to come back, some of the work will have already been done. And if it's not allowed back... hey, I'll have an offline copy of the article.
"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerNot getting much opinions on this but they are tepid at best. Maybe in the future, when the site overhaul comes.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanAhkay. Thanks for helping me try, anyway.
"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerI have noticed the following pages, which redirect to their proper names (and namespaces in most cases), are still constantly being abused, and—you'd better brace yourselves—I would like to nominate them to be "Deliberate Redlinks" (a la This Troper):
- Crowning Moment Of Awesome
- Crowning Momentof Awesome
- Crowning Moment Of Funny
- Crowning Momentof Funny
- Crowning Moment Of Heartwarming
- Crowning Momentof Heartwarming
- Crowning Music Of Awesome
- Crowning Musicof Awesome
- Incredibly Lame Pun
The first 8 pages are still acceptable to use. As for the second, the Trope Repair Shop decided to keep the redirect as is.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanCould someone making a note that Citation Needed is blue because of the weblog with that name that has entries here?
Hide / Show RepliesNah, I think it's fairly pointless. I might add a note about bluelinks, though.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanWhy is Media Watchdogs listed in the other category? I'm not a fan of a lot of them but a plural tense for a redirect being blacklisted is a bit much and incongruous.
Edited by Nasrudith Hide / Show RepliesBecause it's a plural redirect. We don't want these.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanShould we add an entry for Pattycakes? Cause... it doesn't look like anyone's making a page for that one soon. And thank God, that fic was awful!
Hide / Show RepliesNo, that is covered under the general 5P entry.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI noticed that in the Red Link Club there was a page for "Pokemon Blackand White The Movie" mentioned. Shouldn't it state something like "you may have been looking for "Pokémon: The Movie Black/White".
Hide / Show RepliesMight want to ask for a note here.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThe page currently says that "Cute Kids And Robots" was "pretty pointless since children's shows by definition feature a lot of children." Children's shows don't have to feature children in the cast. They often do, but it's not necessary "by definition."
Hide / Show RepliesEh, I don't read it that absolutely. Much childrens' material will feature kids.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThe whole point is to draw attention to these pages. It could be useful tool to let others know what's been cut so no more links are added while the pre-existing ones are deleted.
Hide / Show RepliesI don't see why this is necessary when all the examples are on Locked Pages with similar (although less detailed) explanations already.
Looking over the above, the difference is that some of those pages are still valid, despite being locked. Permanent Red Link Club is about tropes that had been outright cut or made red for one reason or another. There's a couple of reds in the Locked Pages so we could move them over to their own separate area, which would be this.

I'm just letting you guys know.
For the first time, the Westboro church (outside of Larmie and Theroux) was referenced in an episode of Rick And Morty, where Rick and the teenage daughter (all buffed up) beat up a guy carrying a god hates fags sign.
"YOU FILTHY SWINE!!! I WILL KEEEEL YOU!!!Some of the Red Links on this page are actually blue links now. Most of them are locked, but some aren't. I suggest that someone move the Locked Pages to the Locked Pages page and the unlocked pages be looked into to prevent future vandalism.
Hide / Show RepliesThis is an artifact of the new way the redlinker works; it shows a page as blue if there is at least one working page under that title.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanIs there a reason Green Aesop is in red? It doesn't appear on the red link page and it links fine.
Edited by 5.66.16.200 Hide / Show RepliesOne of its subpages was cutlisted and cut. That makes all the pages with the same title appear as red until you re-edit it.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanWhy is Yugioh Abridged redlinked visually, but still a link?

Hide / Show RepliesLittle glitch. Looks like a subpage was cut, which for some reason redlinks a page until it gets edited. I fixed it with a null edit.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.Matter of fact, there are a lot of links for existing pages that show up as red links (like the ones scene on Chuggaaconroy's Funny page). EDIT: Oh, so that's what you meant by a "null edit". Okay, fixed now.
Edited by 50.158.100.89Why is Ymmv Code of Princess and Persona 5 redlinked?
Its particularly absurd to see Persona 5 red linked.
Hide / Show RepliesPresumably, the pages got cutlisted, which auto-locks the page.
You can go to this thread to request that they be unlocked.
Can someone add All Asians Are Alike as a red link club member? It can be near Heroic Sociopath.
Still the best 71Why We Are All Pokémon Trainers is now redlinked?
Also, for some reason, half of the links here are now blue, which nullifies the meaning of this page.
Edited by 83.138.198.171 Seriously, my avatar comes from the embodiment of the So Bad, It's Good trope. It seems Rockapella is permanently redlinked now. Is it because they're mostly known for doing the theme song for Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego?
Hide / Show RepliesI assume it's because that page was in the Main/ namespace and was therefore cut (but not barred from having a page in the future). Musicians belong in Music/.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.Sorry to suggest a preemptive strike, but I was thinking a page on Beatrice Welles would be overly controversial, considering that fans of Orson Welles might come by such a page and fill it with hate against her for, among other things, tampering with Othello and only allowing the tampered-with mess to be released. Now, keeping Ted Turner's crayons away from Citizen Kane is quite understandable (and even Ted Turner himself said he didn't really want to colorize that film anyway), but what she did to Othello is unforgivable IMHO. However, I know better than to create a page on Beatrice Welles simply to drive that point home.
Edited by 71.80.74.223I'm going to make a stand and say this: this page is too fucking long. Let's prune this list down to anything that actually needs to be gone.
Hide / Show RepliesIf you have any suggestions for things which can be removed from this list, please take them to the forum.

I'm not LGBT. I just think Rain's really cool. Apologies if my humor gets too painful.About abbreviations, what can we do to clear the air regarding the confusion of "MW?" As far as I know, it stands for two things: Mech Warrior and Modern Warfare. Considering the fact that Modern Warfare 3 has on its cover "MW 3" and that MW was the original abbreviation for Mech Warrior 1 and 2 (in fact, the actual simulation executables were MW.exe and MW 2.exe), I just want to know if you the admins had some idea how to deal with it.
I'm only asking because I've seen a few You Tube debacles when people were bashing Mech Warrior 2 and 3 videos when they were looking for Modern Warfare.
I think we agreed not to list these pages in the PRLC. Discuss it here if you disagree.
- Main.Caligula: Technically this was cut as part of the new content policy, but is listed here as the most high-profile casualty of that policy. Though some users attempted to argue that the film had merits beyond its pornographic content, it will never be restored due to the precedent that would be set by allowing a pornographic work page to remain simply because of its notoriety.
Not having come across this page before joining the It Got Worse rename to From Bad to Worse, I left/created a number of PotHoles by leaving the original text, instead of adjusting the text to fit the new name. These may have to be addressed if it becomes annoying by inducing people to use the old phrase.
My apologies.
Edited by Lokimaros Man is least himself when he talks in his own person. Give him a mask, and he will tell you the truth. -OscarI noted that several of the initialism redirects don't work anymore. This should be reflected in the text.
Get rid of the walled garden Hide / Show RepliesIn fact, I wonder why we should list initialisms here when there's just too many to list. I'm thinking we should remove that list and just say that ALL initialisms are deleted for good.

"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI noticed a trope called Crowning Moment Of Horror is blank and locked, but isn't on the list. Anybody know why?
Hide / Show RepliesJust being cut isn't enough to go on this list. It was probably cut for overlapping with Nightmare Fuel and all.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going. Are we going to list all the ones that were removed in the 5P purge?
Hide / Show Replies^That would turn this page into a directory of porn and paedo-pornography. No thanks.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanIt would help to know which works are off-limits. Being controversial isn't enough. For example, I came to this page via a link in From the Mouths of Babes to Kodomo No Jikan which is a locked red-link. I hadn't been aware that the purge was going to extend to works as well, so this took me by surprise.
If there's not going to be information on the page for the work itself about the purge, then it needs to be collected somewhere to prevent confusion for the majority of users who are not heavily involved on the forums. This site does attract new users occasionally who might want to know what the deal is.
Edited by KurtulmakYou want this place. Also, it's always a good idea to look around the forums when you have questions.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanAny real reason Sweet Apple Massacre was removed? There seemed to be no trouble with it as far as I could tell.
Hide / Show RepliesIt violated the Five P policy by being a trollfic that had rape with underage characters.
Edited by toonyloonI've noticed Creepy Sexy isn't on this list... And yet it's been cut.
Edited by JojolavacheBaby Got Back isn't here, it was a trope but got cut due to people only using it for Perverse Sexual Lust.
Hide / Show RepliesOh never mind, apparently Baby Got Back is getting a rehaul why they decide what to do? IDK.
Re the commenting-out of the "paedophilia" and "sex" pages:
As mentioned here, nothing is decided there, so please don't add anything from this category here. It's premature.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThe real life section of Eldritch Abomination was recently cut. Would it qualify for the PRLC under the "no real life examples" section?
Hide / Show RepliesPulling the following examples and putting them here for now:
- Scientific Progress Goes Oi: Not A Trope. Listed almost exclusively Real Life examples, and the Calvin And Hobbes-esque title likely confused certain people.
- Baby Got Back: The page had an uncomfortably drooling tone in regards to descriptions of the relevant body part, and it was eventually decided that there was not enough of an actual trope for it to be worth cleaning up the page — the whole thing amounted to "people with big butts."
- Innocent Panties: Overly creepy page about children's panties showing without sexual meaning.
- Naked Shotaro Boy: Was a listing of works which feature nude prepubescent boys. Do we even need to explain why it was cut?
- O Ring Orifice: Disgusting page about the ability of bodily orifices to stretch wide in fiction works.
Scientific Progress Goes Oi has no reason to be here - please don't add page here without a good reason.
Baby Got Back, Innocent Panties, O Ring Orifice most definitely don't belong where they were put, and I have doubts that the names are bad enough to have them here - it's about names, not pages!
Naked Shotaro Boy: Yes, you do need to explain.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard Feynman Hide / Show RepliesHow about putting them is a new section ("Overly sexual pages", or something like that?)
I think we first need to tighten the standards for putting pages here. It's quickly becoming a place to Complain About Pages You Don't Like
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI see. Probably we could include a hidden message for every section pointing out that complaining abour (or poking fun ot) cut pages is not the idea of the article. If all else fails, we should probably lock the page, but that should be the last resort.
Edited by SNDLI already added one in the source. Let's see if it sticks, but I've the feeling that several sections don't belong here at all (cut then recreated, other/unsorted).
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThe "cut then recreated" section dates back to before we started autolocking cut pages. People would recreate pages after they were cut, and they had to be locked manually. Same goes for the other/unsorted section - many of them were perma-redlinked before cut pages were autolocked.
Yeah. I am just not sure if we still need these sections. In fact, I think that the "cut then recreated" section can be deleted and the Did Not Do The Research pages can be added as a sub-group of the exampleless section.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI see no reason to remove them.
As for those 5 examples, I'd say they all belong here except for Scientific Progress Goes Oi. But they don't really fit under any of the current sections. They'd either have to go under unsorted or an entirely new section.
I've the feeling that "other/unsorted" is an euphemism for "no good reason".
I can get behind Naked Shotaro Boy being put back, maybe Innocent Panties as well, but everything else's justification for being PRLC'ed is rather flimsy.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanAgain, most of the "other/unsorted" ones are merely artifacts from before the autolock system was added. Even if they weren't the kind of thing we'd put here if they were cut today, back then this was for all cut-and-locked-pages. In fact, I'm pretty sure the only one of those that doesn't predate autolocking is Title Bin.
Edited by MyTimingIsOffIn that case, the only item in "other" that is actually Permanent Red Link Club-worthy is It Looks Like This. The others can be removed, I'd say.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI think that a reordering of the page into PRLC-eing categories would be useful:
- Pages cut for creating issues on the rest of the wiki
- Pages made in violation of wiki policy
- Redundant pages
OK, so something is confusing me... according to the trope page "Pages that have been cut as of April 2011 are autolocked to prevent people from overriding the cutlist. This page is only for the ones that we don't want coming back ever. If it isn't on [the Perma-Red Link Club], you can..." yadda yadda yadda BUT... What if a page has been cut and autolocked... but doesn't exist in the Cutlist? For example, the page Ironclad is gone and isn't on the Cutlist. And it's not the only one, just the easiest example
Hide / Show RepliesBy Cut List I think you mean Recent Cuts. Anyway, Ironclad was cut long enough ago to have been dropped off that list. It was cut after April 2011, though, so it's locked. I see how the confusion came about, so I have moved the misleading link on this page.
I'm not crazy, I just don't give a darn!Basically, It means that only people who know why a page was cut can fill the PRLC page.
"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."Pulled from the page, because not all pages were cut. Also, I expect some discussion before putting it into the Permanent Red Link Club.
- All subpages of True Art.
Specifically, the pages to be decided upon are these:
- True Art Is Complex
- True Art Is Foreign
- True Art Is Offensive
- True Art Is Realistic
- True Art Sticks It To The Man
I think this page should be moved to Permanent Red Link Club, since it has to do with the running of the wiki. Thoughts?

I'm not crazy, I just don't give a darn!Should Headscratchers.Furry Fandom be put here? I'm leaning toward, "Why even ask?", but I see no reason not to.
EDIT: Well, I put it there. By the way, is there any difference between pages like Headscratchers.Furry Fandom and Headscratchers.Yaoi Fangirl and general Headscratchers complaining pages? If not, then those two items can be removed.
Edited by FinalStarman I'm not crazy, I just don't give a darn! Hide / Show RepliesWhich I already did. Their PRLC'ing reasons still fall into the category "Complaining About Things You Don't Like.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI have a question. What would happen if I'd like to add a work to the site which happens to have a same title as the pages in Permanent Red Link Club?
Hide / Show Repliescreate a namespace for the kind of work it is (to create a page for a webcomic titled Shadow Persona, type Webcomic/ShadowPersona.
You'd end up with Shadow Persona.
Now Bloggier than ever before! There's nothing inherently wrong with the main page, so I'm sure asking for it to be unlocked to create the work page would be okay.
But putting a work on Main/ is not OK; see Namespaces.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanQuick bit of advice, from one troper to the rest: when adding a page to the club, please remember to go through the wiki and remove any wicks to the new member. If the page was renamed, changing them to the new name will also work. If there are a lot of wicks, try asking for help in Special Efforts. Thank you.
This message has been brought to you by the time I just spent changing all of the remaining "Flaming Fruit Vendors And Angry Arabs" wicks to point to UsefulNotes.Middle East Uprising 2011.
"I'm pregnant, and I'm losing my mind."Did Comic Party (an anime & manga based on a Japan-Only game) become a member of this? If so, why isn't it listed? If an article for it never existed in the first place, then I'll begin as soon as I get more knowledge about it.
Edited by SamMax Hide / Show RepliesIt appears that Comic Party never had a page on this wiki to begin with, because it's not locked and I'm not seeing any edit history for it. If you want to make a page for it, go right ahead, Works Pages Are A Free Launch. Just make sure to put it in the correct namespace.
I've noticed Fangame is both red and locked, making it an entry here. Any reasoning behind this? If there was a discussion on it, I can't find it. I'm assuming it's because it's Fan Sequel, but more specific, but don't know for sure.
Edited by ShadowHog Moon◊ Hide / Show RepliesAll cut pages are automatically locked now. And looking at the edit history, the page was a stub.
I have a suggestion. If these pages are too controversial to keep on the main wiki, why not move them somewhere else? It's a win-win situation: they stay off the wiki, and people can still see them
Hide / Show RepliesMost of these pages were removed simply because they were bad pages. Moving them off the main wiki would simply be giving them too much credit.
Also, the Darth Wiki already exists for people to make pages for controversial topics. The fact that individual DW pages have been cut should demonstrate that mere controversiality is not really a criterion to be put on this page.
Since Troper Tales is gone, should we remove the listings of Troper Tales considering that every single Troper Tale is now technically locked and deleted?
Hide / Show RepliesWell, we might still want to mention specific pages that were cut just so people know what went wrong with them and what to avoid doing on the wiki.
Uwe Boll has been a member for some time. I'm guessing his work was being bashed and that it should go under "Unsorted"; am I right?
Hide / Show RepliesIt would go under "Pages cut and locked due to being nothing but complaining". I have now put it there.
Edited by InsignificantBig Wrong is now a member of the Permanent Red Link Club. It should probably be added to this page.
Problem is, I don't know which category it should be added under.
Hide / Show RepliesIt was cut as a result of a TRS thread for being a stock phrase with no actual trope behind it.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I guess I'll just put it under unsorted until someone comes along and fixes it.
I'm surprised that Irate Gamer's DNDTR is not part of this club (even though everything on that page has been deleted) but his main page is the one that's locked. Honestly?
Son of a BAZOOOOOOOKAH! Hide / Show RepliesWhy is Bruno Mars here? Shouldn't that be sent to YKTTW instead?
Hide / Show RepliesHell if I know. Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift have even more prevalent hatedoms, and their pages were created without a problem (and, as it turns out, little to no vandalism!).
Edited by Spinosegnosaurus77 Peace is the only battle worth waging.Isn't the Celeb Crush Troper Tales page a member of this, too? Why isn't it listed here and why is it redlinked?
Peace is the only battle worth waging.Readded Abu Ghraib to the page. Noting the Flame Wars it brings, I highly doubt we want that coming back.
Edited by Gundamforce<s>Why is {ptitle70n0mn3c} locked and blank? Wasn't there an article on Pokemon? If this isn't it shouldn't it at least be a redirect since about a hundred pages link to it?</s> UGH I don't even know what that page is anymore, it just appears to me as "Pokemon" and many pages link to it and it doesn't redirect for some reason.
Edited by LairOfRockwhales Hide / Show RepliesIt's a redirect that looks like this: Pokémon. It looks like "Pokémon" but was linking to a "Pokemon"-ptitle [NO accent on th "e"!] It was way too often used, and was also a ptitle-redirect to a ptitle. Unwanted, unneeded, and thanks to the new system, we're now just using {{Pokemon}} (which gives us Pokemon - WITH an accent on the main page!).
Whenever you see ÞPokémonÞ (or ANY "[=~"-created ptitle, or a ptitle to a ptitle), change it. It'd be appreciated.
EDIT: Perhaps we should make it blue again - 'cause at the moment the "Related to"-Button shows absolutely NOTHING. We can delete it again AFTER we purged it from this wiki. ^^
Edited by GrobiOn the page, the Lolicon thing is blue. Can someone fix that?
Edited by ChytusShouldn't The Unfair Sex be here? It's incredibly subjective and quickly turns very very creepy in a privilege-denying-heterosexual-white-guy way. There's so much rage on there against women (or men being "unfairly" punished for violence against women) that it's become pretty disturbing.
Hide / Show RepliesI'd like to point out that Please Elaborate wasn't originally intended to be used at all in YKTTW; in fact, making it YKTTW-exclusive was a last-ditch effort by its supports to prevent it being deleted, towards the end of its life.
When originally floated, it was supposed to be a predefined message which someone could leave on an ambiguous example. If somebody familiar with the work in question were to later stumble across it, they would see that tag and thus rewrite the example into a better, clearer one.
As it happened, it invited well-meaning natter. That's why it was deleted, not misuse.
Ukrainian Red Cross Hide / Show RepliesIt could still be useful in places like the Fanservice, Fetish Fuel, and various Crowning Moment pages, but I don't know if it's possible to make a page that's a blue link there & a red link everywhere else.
Thus speaks the Omega Metroid! ...Or something like that.It might be possible, but even if it were it would probably be more trouble than it's worth.
Now Bloggier than ever before! What if Please Elaborate redirected to X Just X? That way it would stay a red link, but could be used in the edit summary when removing something for not properly explaining it.
Should Villainous Sacrifice be here? i found the page started but not edited and without index, so i made the description and was searching for an index, when i found out the page erased and locked, so i'm asking should Villainous Sacrifice be here in the section "Pages for being cut then recreated" section?.
Sorry if in the past Villainous Breakdown was instead of Villainous Sacrifice, i should have commited a terrible mistake, i'm really sorry.
Edited by Someonebesidesomeone Hide / Show RepliesWho is this "we" so I can know who's ignoring me when I pray? Also, just found out that Crowning Moment Of Awesome is being subtly and slowly pushed off the wiki. TV Tropes just jumped the shark it seems :(
Edited by requiem18th Hide / Show RepliesMoment Of Awesome prolly won't go anywhere, we just want to keep it off the main page.
Put me in motion, drink the potion, use the lotion, drain the ocean, cause commotion, fake devotion, entertain a notion, be Nova ScotianMoment Of Awesome wasn't axed. It just found a new home in the Sugar Wiki, that's all.
Edited by RedVikingMoment Of Awesome wasn't axed. It just found a new home in the Sugar Wiki, that's all.
Edited by RedVikingOther than there being no main page, is there any other reason for So Bad Its Horrible Software to be cut?
Hide / Show RepliesIIRC, it's because it was considered outside the scope of the wiki, and had mostly degenerated into Complaining About Programs You Don't Like.
Are you implying that So Bad Its Horrible is Complaining About Shows You Dont Like?
Edited by nuclearneo577Well, yeah, complaining is complaining, even if the shows you don't like are objectively bad. I won't be surprised if, eventually, the whole So Bad Its Horrible thing is removed from the wiki entirely.
I won't be happy, but I won't be surprised, either.
she her hers hOI!!! i'm tempeWere here to catalog fiction, not just software.
Edited by DrStarky Put me in motion, drink the potion, use the lotion, drain the ocean, cause commotion, fake devotion, entertain a notion, be Nova ScotianWe have DarthWiki.Idiot Programming; we don't need a So Bad Its Horrible-Software-section at all.
Really, it's an index covering a variety of tropes (or whatever it is they're considered to be) and I guess we shouldn't have pages splitting off one group of examples from a page.
The Troper Tales.Lolicon link is blue for some reason. Somebody fix that.
Edited by SmasherWhy, exactly, are some of these redlinked instead of just being redirects? GAR, for example, could be a redirect to Testosterone Poisoning, Do Not Want could be redirected to Squick, et cetera.
Hide / Show RepliesGAR has been discussed in IJBM, but without reaching any conclusion. What I know is that it used to be a redirect to Badass, until someone made it a separate trope.
Do Not Want has changed its target too (first renamed to Translation Train Wreck which it redirected to, then became redirect to Squick), so perhaps it was too confusing?
"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."Do Not Want could be used to express emotions other than disgust, so I think it wouldn't be a good redirect for Squick regardless.
Wrestler, bodybuilder. No hopes, no dreams. The link to Relationship Text Upgrade became blue again after I requested a closure of the Image Pickin' Discussion. How do we change it back? Also, why was the page deleted in the first place?
To Glowsquid, thanks for fixing the link. Now I see that it is locked.
"Unbirthing: A Squick fetish that you're not likely to see in non-pornographic media."
We have various tropes that only apply to pornographic works (we have an index for them even), so why is "this only happens in porn" a valid reason to cut-lock a page?
Hide / Show RepliesWhat on earth did GAR do to get red linkd? It was a good trope!
Hide / Show RepliesWhy, exactly, does Do Not Want get a red page instead of being a redirect to Squick, given that's pretty much the only way it's used these days?
Edit: Same vein, isn't I Just Want To Be Accepted an actual trope, given that it shows up with reasonable frequency in both Heroes and Villains, admittedly generally only in shows targeted at a specific demographic?
Edited by Ramenth Hide / Show RepliesDo Not Want: Good question.
I Just Want To Be Accepted: Presumably the person trying to launch the trope was... being unhelpful.
she her hers hOI!!! i'm tempeApparently, at some point, Do Not Want was a redirect to Squick (or so it's claimed on This Index Is Not an Example) but has since been cut from even that. If that ever was a redirect for Squick before it was cut, it might, at least, be worth pointing that out on the main article.
I can vouch that the creator of I Just Want To Be Accepted was being unhelpful, I was involved somewhat in his repair shop threads
Hunh...I thought So Yeah was (by the criteria given) more of a "misuse" deletion than a "bad writing" deletion. Could just be me tho.
(Nevermind, I'm an idiot and I need to read upwards.)
Edited by SeanTuckerWeegee is showing up as a redlink for me, but it does exist (a redirect to Mario Is Missing). Is this intentional, or a glitch?
I mean, Weegee is a meme, and we should not spew memes in Main/, but it isn't quite at I Am Not Making This Up or This Troper levels of evil, is it?
she her hers hOI!!! i'm tempe Hide / Show RepliesProbably a glitch. If the mods didn't like that redirect, they'd delete it, not make it red.
Edit: looks like it's probably a glitch left over from when all the contributor pages were moved to Tropers/.
Edited by CentralAvenue Heapers’ HangoutWell now it's red because it's gone, which at least makes sense.
she her hers hOI!!! i'm tempeSo, does this cover all pages that are both cut and locked (Fred Durst, I Just Want To Be Accepted, Main.Fast Eddie), or just the ones that contribute to bad writing?
Edited by billybobfred she her hers hOI!!! i'm tempe Hide / Show RepliesI'd personally like to move all the red link descriptions on Locked Pages to this one. In fact, I think I'm going to do that. (After all, where do you draw the line for "contributing to bad writing"? What What Woah? Do Not Want?)
Edited by STUART and a box hereYeah, I was actually going to suggest a separate page for cutlocked pages until I found this one.
