As of 2021, Chrome does save text in text-entry boxes, for a limited amount of time. Even if you accidentally close the window. I will not swear to more than 13 minutes of save, though.

If you have Firefox, download Lazarus. It is your best friend for recovering lost text.
Chrome users, tough luck, Chrome and Chromium don't save form data like Firefox does, so it is more susceptible to Data Vampires. There might be an extension for that though.
