Edited by BawdyPosseopen"Daddy's Little Girl?" (still unsolved) Film
Family film, live action, circa I don’t even know, late 1990s? (A lot of my rediscovered forgotten media is from 97 specifically so maybe then, but no guarantees.) Possibly/probably relatively obscure, so if this rings any bells to anybody let me just say you're awesome. Anyway, the movie is about, or at least features, a girl, 12ish years old, whose father is a comic book artist.
There’s a scene at a birthday(?) party, at a backyard (possibly with a pool?); there’s a live 60s-esque rock band who’ve been hired to perform, singing lyrics along the following lines: “ooh, she’s daddy’s little girl” (trying to search these lyrics only turns up an unrelated song.)
- It might be a cover of "You're a Big Girl Now" by The Stylistics but if it is the songwriter is uncredited on imdb so.???
The other kids there are teasing the girl because of something in the latest issue of her father’s comic book. It’s a vaguely TMNT-esque publication, with similar art style and anthropomorphic animals as the characters, and the Master Splinter-type character has his adopted-daughter-type figure start wearing a training bra now that she’s growing up; all the girl’s friends recognize this as being a thinly veiled stand-in for the girl’s own blossoming into womanhood, the father writing his own relationship with his daughter into the comic.
That's about all I've got. Thanks.
Edited by PretzelsopenKids bedroom is pushed out of apparment, colour 80s/70s TV episode? Film
I saw this when I was very young, hence why my memory is blotchy and it may not be a film, could be a short or a TV episode.
A boys/childs aggressive dad ( or another male figure) chases them into their bedroom, where the kid slams and locks the door on the man's face. The kid hides in their bed, while the man starts pummeling on the door with his fists, shouting and cursing. After a few seconds, the walls of the room start to shake. The room starts to shunt and after a minute, it literally is pushed out of the apartment block where it falls and lands on the street a few floors below. The kid is fine. He gets out of the bed, looks up at the hole where it used to be and then runs away. There are some other people around on the street but they don't interact with the boy, other than looking in confusion at the scene.
This was colour, live action. And likely American ( due to the appartment block but it could be a foreign film with similar architecture). This would have been mid 1990s at the latest I'd think as I was very young when I saw it. I remember being scared of the scene as it was very tense.
EDIT; Edited the title, as from some additional info from a friend, I think this is an episode of a anthology TV series
Edited by ToastyBunsopenLooking for a (possibly) educational film! Film
Hello! A friend's mom is looking for this movie, and this is about all we know about it. This movie was about an Inuit brother and sister, probably made in the 70s but the possibility of it being made in the late 60s or early 80s isn't ruled out. The sister was the older of the two and may have been narrating the film, while the brother was about 7 or 8 years old. The film may have focused on them exclusively and there may not have been any other characters.
The siblings seem to have been lost somewhere in the Arctic, and there was a scene of them going fishing for food, but the boy refused to eat the fish because he felt bad for it. The movie was a kid's movie, apparently not a documentary but it may have been educational. It was live-action and in color. It's not apart of the Netsilisk Eskimo series and may have been about more than an hour long. Any help or information is super appreciated! Thank you!
Edited by the_coldest_neptuneopenGirl’s Childhood Cartoon Film
So I have an extremely vague memory of a cartoon I used to watch as a child in the early 2000’s. It followed three girls who led secret lives where they were fairies or spies or something. It was very similar to Winx Club, W.I.T.C.H. or Totally Spies, but I don’t think it was any of these three. I had a toy wand that was from the show’s brand and it was a pink “fairy”/magic wand that was round in the middle and clear, so you could see little colored balls stacked on top of each other in the wand’s entire handle. I think they might have been removable, but I’m not sure. It was kind of an anime-style show, but not sailor moon. Please help!
openKIDS scottish Tv show or movie 80s, 90s or 2000s Film
hello, this is one of my last resorts! I have been looking and researching this show ever since it came to mind. The show is for kids and I remember it being on VHS it was about some kid ghosts and their grandpa (i think) that lived in an old maybe Scottish castle! I was only young when I saw it and I saw it in the early 200s but I thought it might have been an uncles or cousins movie since it was my gran's movie, not mine! help if you can it would be much appreciated
open??? :) Film
Okay... here's what I know! I viewed this movie (or possibly an episode of a show) during the 2000s (2004 to 2012). All that I recall is that there were two main characters being followed throughout the film. One being a boy/guy and the other being a human-sized robot (who would later reveal herself to be a girl/woman after removing the robot head/helmet). I believe they were both on some sort of quest, but that is all that comes to mind. Also, I think that they kissed after he finds out that she's a girl. And it was not a cartoon! Thanks for the help in advance!!! :)
openThere was a girl/woman with a pig face in the end Film
I once saw a trailer for a short (?) which its name I don't exactly remember, but it was something along the lines of The Dreamer and the Pit, or The Pendulum and the Dreamer, or The Dreamer and the Pendulum, and so and so. I think it was about a girl that goes to another dimension, or realm, through maybe a secret entrance? Yeah, maybe it was like Coraline, but the other world wasn't a "Reverse" world. Anyway, the thing I vividly remember is that at the end of the trailer there was a shot of a girl slowly turning towards the camera, revealing that she had a pig's face sewn (?) onto her own face.
openTrying to find a film with an island of giant animals Film
I'm trying to find this film that I rented and only bothered to skim through because I found it so boring. It was back in the 2000s, pretty sure it was before the 2010s, and I think it was a film adaptation of The Mysterious Island. I remember it involved a band of characters being stranded on an island that a Mad Scientist had populated with various giant versions of normal animals, and there was a climatic scene where a bunch of soldiers or pirates or something armed with guns were swarmed by various giant animals, including a giant snake and a giant chameleon (or maybe it was a lizard, but I know it did the tongue-grab thing) and many of them were Swallowed Whole on-screen.
This ring any bells for anybody? Might have been the 2005 film for Mysterious Island.
openA Single Line... Film
This is one of the most infuriatingly obscure pieces of movie dialogue. The scene, from what I can remember, is a number of people sitting around a conference table or business/political office, possibly debating something bad that has happened and trying to spin it positively. One character is coming up with a detailed plan to get them out of whatever bad situation they find themselves in, and another supporting character/lackey type, wearing glasses I'm pretty sure, says "He's not lying!" as if to tell everyone that while what he's saying may not technically be accurate, he is not deliberately engaging in a falsehood (which is what makes me think it's a political setting).
My brother and I quote movies CONSTANTLY, and every once in a while one of us will forget where a quote comes from, and will ask the other "what was that from, again?" Well, this one, neither of us can remember, and it has been driving us crazy for YEARS.
I know a few things it's NOT:
It's NOT Weird Science "He's not lying, I don't even have a learner's permit." although this movie came out at the beginning of the era in which I suspect the target movie came out mid-80's-late 90's.
It's NOT a snippet of a larger piece of dialogue, it was the only thing the character in question said at that moment.
It's NOT Canadian Bacon, although the entire political spin doctors angle fits.
It's NOT Hudsucker Proxy, though many of the board room scenes have the same feel I am thinking of.
It also is NOT Bonfire of the Vanities. When my brother mentioned this movie, I was almost positive he had hit on it, but I read the entire script and did not find it.
It's NOT spoken by a female character. It was definitely spoken by a male, and I want to say he was wearing glasses, although I may be wrong. I also had a previous hunch it was Kevin Pollack, but that's because I was chasing Canadian Bacon for a bit, but I realize that's not it. Same type of character, though (spin doctor).
That's it. My super obscure, long lost piece of dialogue that if someone can nail it down, I will be eternally grateful and will compose epic poems of your greatness!

Edited by ArtistikopenObscure cartoon/real life kids movie about a train Film
there was a magical train that travelled to different lands. It was controlled by a real person, but I think different places they travelled to could’ve been cartoons. I think the train was red and yellow. One place I remember them traveling to vividly was a farm. There was singing involved. I rented the VHS from the library when I was little. Please tell me someone remembers this!

openRace-swap movie Film
I'm trying to find a film I watched a long time ago in which a black man and a white man "swap" race groups (via special makeup) so they can date the women they liked (who liked the other). In one scene, the white man (disguised as the black man) dropped a fake eyeball into a person's drink.
open80S (90S) KIDS DINOSAUR VHS SINGALONG Film
Sorry if this isn't allowed, but as I recall the item I'm looking for is a VHS tape from the 80s/early 90s, not a TV show (though in retrospect it certainly could be an episode from a show). What I'm looking for (as my child mind recalls) is a singalong/informational children's video about dinosaurs featuring a narrator in a white space suit (?), white face paint and big round red glasses (female). I recall it featuring a stegosaurus, brachiosaurus and tyrannosaurus for sure, but others were included. I've searched and searched and can't seem to find the name of the video. As mentioned, it was slightly a singalong as I recall, but also very informational for children. Any thoughts would help—it's driving me NUTS! TY!
openLooking for a CGI movie from the early-mid 2000s Film
I only watched the last third of the movie, but it involves a girl saving her city inside an At-at thingy from an Evil Chancellor who tried to execute her father with spinning spikes. Then in that ruckus, some guy assassinated an empress and chaos ensued inside the city in th At-at thingy as the girl and the chancellor in his One-Winged Angel form fight.
Edited by alnair20aug93openCartoon movie about animals trying to deliver a letter to santa claus Film
Ok, so I remember that the main guy was called Freddy and was a ferret, then there was a stick insect called walker that knew a lot of stuff and a salmon bird called cari who couldn't fly. Near the end, they go into "Santa's boat" and there they find a rat called Roderick Aloysius T-something and break the letter they were supposed to be delivering (it was sort of like a roll of paper). Another thing I should add is that I thought it was from Scandinavia (I'm not sure of the exact country, tho), but I could be wrong. Sorry for not giving more detail, but that's all I remember.
openSome Horror Movie Film
I remember watching this scary movie when I was a kid. A bunch of teenagers or adults adventured into this abandoned factory which was haunted by a ghost who killed people in gruesome ways. The first person she killed was some guy who offered her a cigar. The teenagers were picked off one by one and on the way, they bumped into some mercs or military men who were at first hostile but eventually sided with the teenagers. They all died and eventually we were left with 2 adult or teenage girls. One girl was killed and the ghost was about to kill the final survivor but she was somehow rescued and she woke up in a room that was occupied by another woman. I can't remember the room that well, but does anyone know what movie this is?
openAn horror movie about a tar spot on a lake(solved) Film
An horror movie I can't find anywhere about a slime(or somehting, I don't know how to describe it on english) on a lake that melts(or eats I don't remember very well) people, it starts with a group of camping youths that go to a lake to mess around in summer the first thing they notice is that the water of the lake is very cold(the guys looked like they were to have an hypothermic attack but I don't know if it was the actors or the characters bc one of them really looked like he was on the verge of collapsing) but that didn't stop them and everyone gets on the lake they play for a while and get on the raft in the middle of the lake and see like a tar spot that moves and kills one of them, there is when the conflict for survival starts from what I remember, does anyone knows what movie is?
Edited by willofoneopenDepressed penguin walks off into the distance Film
I remember watching a film where a penguin colony was on the rocky beaches of the Islamic Republic of the Koudeiland Islands for Summer breeding and a Gentoo Penguin started walking to a chain of mountains that was many miles away and farther inland and a narrator said the penguin would certainly die and that sometimes they just walk far from the sea and go too far to make it back.
Hi Tropers! You all are freaking awesome! Happy I found such a cool thing!
Know this MOVIE?
A young man adds up (for his girlfriend) the days remaining in a normal lifetime... Then they go on to live a more free lifestyle.
The movie centers around a sort of underground gang of children, all controlled by an older man. Drugs, homelessness, sewers, petty theft..
In the end the pair are snow-sledding with kayaks in Iceland or someplace like that.
May be European or American... Probably later than 1999, and earlier than 2008.
It wasnt a Countdown or Deathwatch or grim trope at all... More of a "Snap out of my own apathy, stop hanging around losers wsting my time" kind of trope.
It always stuck with me.
Thanks for your help!
PS... If I'm 35, and I can fully enjoy life until im 75, then I only have less than 15000 days to GET ON WITH IT. Merry Christmas. Peace be with us all.
