[up][up] Sorry I forgot about this thread until now. Did you mean to delete both parts of that entry or the indented part below the main part?

While I'm on the subject, here's another from An Officer and a Gentleman:

Actually, she's not the only female. There are a few extremely brief shots of a couple of other females, but they have no lines and are in the blink and you'll miss it category.

  • Ghostapo:
    • Archangel Gabriel's angels were trying to help Gabriel become a new God. They help the Angeloi's Inquisition, the Gestapo, and the Angeloi's allies kill minorities, heretics, loyalists, and rebellious angels that are against Gabriel's agenda, though it's partly because their opposition is helping to preserve the Angeloi's opponent, the Reich.

    • In a less fantastical manner, the Angeloi most interested in the occult was Heinrich Himmler, while Angelos personally had very little interest in the subject, mostly seeing the dramatic and political implications of secret societies and banning all that didn't support his reign. While he admired the Teutonic myths, his intention was not to replace Christianity with a dead religion, but to get the state to absorb all the properties of a religion, much like the Soviet Commune had done, at least for starters - one can only speculate what would have followed if he had won, or WWII had ended in a stalemate. Some state papers the Central Powers discovered after the fall of Berlin discussed either "Aryanizing" Christianity or completely replacing it with a new religion centered around Angelos, whom the Angeloi would proclaim is the Germanic Roman messiah.

  • Soviet Superscience:

  • Weird Trade Union: There were Angeloi/Rasa trade unions in the 1920's to 1930's. They are serious about being Fascist, and they lobby for ways to discriminate against cultures other than the main one. Again, it's a trade union... for Fascists.

  • Athens and Sparta: Part 5, The Holy Roman Empire of Jerusalem is the Sparta here. Jerusalem has the worst living standards in the world, is built on patriotic citizen soldiers and mercenaries alike, has industrialized killing fields that put the Rasa and The Khmer Rouge to shame, and is built on theocratic, nationalist ideology against Meritocracy/Democracy. Despite this, Jerusalem is somehow the most powerful nation in the world. The ability of Jerusalemite subversion is legendary. The Central Asian Confederation and the Eimerican Federation are the Athens. both the Central Asian Confederation and the Eimerican Federation are Meritocratic Federations built to help each other in meritocratic examinations and in general defending their country, as well as having high living standards and are the new forebearers of Meritocracy/Democracy after the Reich fell into totalitarianism.

  • What the Romans Have Done for Us: Part 4-5: World War 2 onwards, China's economy is much stronger than it was before it was a military dictatorship, pushing back the Reich, and even almost defeating the Angeloi! That's something that was never done in World War 1, as in World War 1 they were pushed around by the Reich! On the other hand, China's oppression of the native population caused a lack of innovation leading to China losing the space race.

The following needs breaking up. With what's present here, I have enough context for the Massages entry and Blake's White Sheep entry. Jaune doesn't fit the trope in the latter fic because he doesn't know his harem even exists. Can anyone give additional context on how Jaune feels about his harems in Our Beloved Musician and Weiss Reacts?

  • Jaune Arc becomes this in a lot of RWBY fanfics. Prominent ones include Massages, where through his skill with massages, he gets the affections of Yang, Blake, Pyrrha, Weiss, Ruby, Velvet, and Glynda. He finds this very uncomfortable, especially since the boys get jealous and try to beat him up. Another is Our Beloved Musician, where this time it's music skills. And everyone of Team RWBY, Pyrrha, Velvet and an OC Team all fall for him.
    • In The Reactsverse fanfic Weiss Reacts set in RWBY, Jaune's harem consists of Pyrrha, Minako, Weiss and her sister Winter. He also has Ship Tease with Miltiades, Yang, Blake, Weiss' other sister, Original Character Elsa, and, Ren.
    • White Sheep (RWBY):
      • Jaune is the object of affection for Ruby, Pyrrha, Yang, and Velvet. He doesn't even notice. Cinder is a Tsundere Clingy Jealous Girl but it's probably platonic. Blake has some attraction to his Grimm form (or more specifically, the tentacles), but it doesn't go anywhere. Emerald also briefly claims to be in his "harem" when she realizes it's the only thing keeping his sister Sapphire from killing her. Weiss is one of the only girls who doesn't have any romantic interest in him at all, so of course she's the one he ends up in a Fake Relationship with.
      • Ren as well. Nora of course constantly tries to get him to notice her feelings, but there's also Jaune's sister Lavender, some repeated Not What It Looks Like moments with Blake, and even the High Leader of the White Fang Sienna Khan. Like Jaune, he never notices.
      • Blake ends up with Sun and Ilia following her around for the latter half of the story. She does notice, but puts up with it because they're helpful.

[up] I'm not familiar with any of the works, so perhaps just rewrite the valid ones.

Several entries on Famous Last Words that are single entries for a work are improperly indented, most of the "stray sub-level bullet" variety. For example:
  • Work
    • "insert death quote"
If these are incorrect note  they should be easy fixes, but there's also instances of this:
  • Work
    • "Death quote"
      • "Alternate death quote in different version"
In Video Games, this is for alternate routes. In Anime & Manga, they appear to be for medium-specific lines. Any advice on how to handle these?

If the single level-2 bullets are bad form here too, those can be dealt with first.

I wonder if the indentation on the following entry from the RoleEndingMisdemeanor.Sports page might need to be looked at?

  • On September 22, 2022, the Boston Celtics suspended head coach Ime Udoka for the 2022-23 season. While Celtics fans were initially surprised by the suspension's length, they felt it was justified after further details explaining why Udoka got the suspension were revealed. During Udoka's first season as head coach in the NBA and only season actually coaching for the Celtics, it turned out he had improper intimate relationships with multiple women working within the team, which the team initially thought was consensual at first. One of the women in question later suggested Udoka made unwanted comments toward her, which further led to the suspension, with his head coach role being replaced by a young assistant coach named Joe Mazzulla throughout the entirety of the season. Despite the length, however, Udoka did not resign from the team at that point in time.
    • Weirdly enough, due to the suspension being made by the Celtics themselves and not by the NBA as a whole, it didn't lead to Udoka being removed from coaching for any other team during that season if the option allowed for it. After a few games into the start of the season, the Brooklyn Nets fired head coach Steve Nash on November 7, 2022 after a disappointing 2-5 start to their season with superstar players Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving finally playing with Ben Simmons in action. This led to the Nets conducting their own investigation into Udoka and asking for the Celtics' permission to speak with him while allowing assistant coach Jacque Vaughn to be their interim head coach during that time. Despite the Celtics allowing Udoka to leave without requiring anything back for his services, the Nets reigned back on the Udoka plan and allow Vaughn to permanently coach the team after some Nets employees expressed concerns with Udoka's return to their coaching staff. Meanwhile, the Celtics under Mazzulla 7-3 by the time the Nets went back on their initial plans at the time. Between Mazzulla's head coaching record (to the point where he even coached Team Giannis for the 2023 NBA All-Star Game and entered the 2023 NBA All-Star Weekend with a 42-17 record for Boston) and the Celtics not asking for anything in exchange for dismissing Udoka at the time, it was very apparent that the latter's time with Boston was coming to an end at some point. That point came on February 16, 2023, when the Celtics dismissed Udoka 59 games into their season and Mazzulla took over as their permanent head coach.

This Ballistic Discount entry has some wonky indentation.

  • When you're playing NetHack, don't try to kill the shopkeeper. In the variant SLASH'EM, they have shotguns. In a medieval setting. Even in vanilla Nethack, they can still slaughter you in seconds.
    • You can play this straight with the right item. One of the ways to reliably kill shopkeepers is with a wand of death. If there is one present, you can pick up a wand of death from the store and zap the shopkeeper with his own wand. Just don't miss (or kill Izchak).
      • Or halfway-straight by summoning your pet Balrog with one of the shopkeeper's magic whistles.
      • Or polymorphing into a dragon.
      • Or polymorphing the shopkeeper into a brown pudding. (This can backfire spectacularly though.)

Would something like this be better?

  • NetHack: Shopkeepers are very powerful and will fight you tooth and nail if you try to abscond with their wares. However, a savvy player can use some of these magical items to assist in their heist. You can take a Wand of Death and zap the shopkeeper, grab a magic whistle and summon a strong pet to fight them with, use a Wand of Polymorph that's on sale to turn yourself into something very powerful (or the shopkeeper into something very weak), and so on. With the shopkeeper dead or neutralized, robbing them blind becomes far easier.

~@gjjones Yeah, I guess the general problem is that it sounds like two tropers having a convo, which is frowned upon.

I suggest reducing the sub-bullet-point into the main bullet point, using double backslashes to create newlines to separate the two paragraphs. Could probably use a little bit of condensation as well, I strongly recommend scanning for Natter to remove.

~@badtothebaritone: Yeah, that works and sounds more formal. That should be the way.

From Welcome Back, Traitor

  • Justice League Unlimited: Hawkgirl, although it's a season and a few more times saving the world before forgiveness comes, and a lot of the populace of Earth still doesn't trust the traitor.
    • That, and the fact that Hawkgirl turns on the people that the Justice League was betrayed to when the full extent of their plan is revealed.
    • Although it was later revealed that the League would have forgiven her immediately (they took a vote and majority was to overlook it) had said traitor not run off anyway to do some soul-searching.
    • Superman himself had to go through this, as a result of his brainwashing at the hands of Darkseid at the end of Superman: The Animated Series. This is possibly why he was the one who cast the deciding vote in Hawkgirl's favor.
The bullet and first two sub-bullets can probably be mashed together.

[up][up]I'd combine the sub bullet and bullet on the antibiotics one, the cash crop example, and the bee one. The entry beginning with "Raise your hands" can just be cut for being too general.

[up]I agree with your suggestions, though I'd still hide the entries because they seem to be relying on "this" for context. However, that just makes them zero-context examples.
Characters.Brickleberry Main Characters has this in Malloy's folder:
** He's selfish with an acerbic personality type who also treats everyone like shit, including his owner Woody. If Malloy opens his mouth, chances are he's insulting you, or about to screw you over. And, almost every time he seems like he's going to show a nicer side, he soon reveals that's not the case.
** There are several instances when Malloy seems like he's going to have a Pet the Dog moment, but it gets subverted in some way. In "Miracle Lake" for instance, he originally seemed like he was going to use a rope to help Denzel and Ethel escape an ice chasm they fell into. Instead, he drops it in the chasm with him, where it's completely useless. He even tells them they should use it to hang themselves and then abandons them without looking back.
** Almost every time Malloy does something nice, he has an ulterior motive behind it. In "Miss National Park", for instance, he agrees to help Connie win a beauty pageant. However, this is only because he wanted the prize (a ticket to China) so he could travel there and get disproportionate vengeance on a Bratty Half-Pint.
The first sub bullet is intended to be an opener because the next two sub bullets cite examples of what it is describing.

Can I make that change?

[up] I think I know the context well enough that that's not necessary. How's this?

  • Justice League Unlimited: Hawkgirl is allowed back onto the team after she voluntarily quit back in Justice League over having sold out Earth to the Thanagarians. Despite also betraying the Thanagarians back to stop them from destroying Earth, the initial betrayal means much of the public and a good chunk of the League still don't fully trust her.

Found this example in VideoGame.Sonic Frontiers. Is the indentation here correct?

  • Dump Stat: Ring Capacity is by far Sonic's least useful stat. Let us count the ways:
    • The stat determines the maximum amount of Rings Sonic can carry. You level up Ring Capacity by giving Kocos to the Elder Koco, but it's either that or increasing Sonic's Speed, which might be more useful in a Sonic game (thankfully, you can swap levels between the two stats for free).
    • Sonic begins the game with a maximum cap of 400 Rings, enemies will shave no more than 20 - 60 Rings per hit, and each level of Ring Capacity increases the cap by a piddling 6 Rings.
    • The stat is only good for players who struggle with the Titan boss battles, which essentially use Super Sonic losing one ring a second as a soft Time Limit, but you'll always start the bosses with at least 100 Ringsnote .
    • Finally, increasing your Ring cap is actually a hinderance if you want the Power Boost, which requires having max Rings.

This from Shoot the Medic First might be indented right, but shouldn't be more than one bullet anyway because the medic mentioned in the first is Wade, hence the second is a redundant addition. Can someone merge both?

  • Saving Private Ryan:
    • In a notable scene at the beginning, a medic is trying to stabilize a fallen soldier on Omaha Beach, seemingly without concern for the sheer number of bullets flying around. After he stabilizes the soldier, he makes the mistake of getting too excited, at which point a bullet goes right through the wounded soldier's helmet, killing him instantly. The medic gets very upset. That same medic later kinda-sorta takes part in combat by making an unarmed distraction run towards a machine gun nest and gets shot and killed. His squad gets very upset.
    • Later in the film, Technician Irwin Wade is purposely shot by a Nazi machine-gunner because of his medical position in the squad. It's particularly horrific because Wade knows exactly how fatal his wound is and asks the team to Mercy Kill him with an overdose of morphine that will deliver a quick, painless death.
Wade: Oh God, I can feel my liver!

Also, in The Foreign Subtitle, the "English to Portuguese" folder has the Rocky movies as sub-topics to RocknRolla, which is a great mistake, and some inconsistent indenting (some list the title above and the Brazilian\Portuguese ones separatedly below, some put one first and the other below while repeating the title, others just put both in the same bullet point).

Is the following example in Main.Guns Are Worthless correct in terms of indentation? If not, how to fix?

    The example. Quite long.
  • Mostly played straight in Bloodborne. Firearm damage is pathetic compared to melee, with most guns taking several shots to kill basic Huntsmen enemies you can dispatch with a couple of swings of an axe or cleaver from the very beginning of the game. However, they have the unique ability to stun enemies if the shot is timed correctly, which can get you out of a sticky situation and give an opening for a high-damage counterattack. The backstory justifies this by stating the guns the player uses have specialized ammo named Quicksilver Bullets, a mixture of mercury and magic blood. They do less damage by default than normal bullets but can fit any Hunter-deigned gun or be used as a medium for magic. The flavor text explains that the the Beasts that make up the majority of in-game enemies are so tough and strong that man-portable firearms are of little use against them, making super-strong, super-fast Hunters swinging melee weapons an overall better option (it's not like one of them would get more mileage out of a regular percussion cap rifle than anyone else; a giant axe is a different story). It can be subverted however, if you level up the "Bloodtinge" stat high enough; certain guns can down bosses ruthlessly and efficiently.
    • Conversely, firearms used by enemies are quite damaging against the player character. Justified in that not only do monsters tend to be much tougher than even the Empowered Badass Normal player character, but one would also expect a more far gone hunter to have a high bloodtinge.
    • Averted by the only two firearms that actually take advantage of the fact that the Hunters are super-strongthe Gatling Gun and the Cannon. The former does about as much damage as other firearms like the Rifle Spear and Hunter Pistol per shot, but with a much higher rate of fire and capacity.note  The latter is basically a light field gun that fires explosive shells; it doesn't gain much from a high bloodtinge stat, but its base damage is so high that it can kill most enemies in a single hit (and take out small clustered groups) and, with the help of a Critical Attack multiplier or Bone Marrow Ash, take out even bosses in just two or three shots. Both weapons are prevented from being Game Breakers because they're both Too Awesome to Use; even with min-maxed stats, you can only carry enough ammo to fire the Cannon three times or the Gatling Gun for a few seconds, without resupplying.

On Padding, someone indented my The Patrick Star Show example in a way that I don't think is right.

What I had:

  • The Patrick Star Show, to match the style of Patrick's in-universe Variety Show, sometimes cuts away to random, extended sequences that rarely have anything to do with the main plot. For instance, "Lost in Couch" opens with a minute of Patrick watching TV, and then a Parody Commercial takes up time later on. In "FitzPatrick", we randomly get a fantasy sequence inside a comic that Patrick reads. "Terror at 20,000 Leagues" notably spends more time on Cutaway Gags to Halloween-themed fare like a zombie brain buffet or a werewolf hair salon than on the actual plot.
The goal here was to describe the filler the show does, and then give specific examples of how it usually plays out. I put it all in one point because I didn't want to be documenting every example of padding, since many of them are similar.

But then, this got changed to this.

  • The Patrick Star Show, to match the style of Patrick's in-universe Variety Show, sometimes cuts away to random, extended sequences that rarely have anything to do with the main plot. I don't think this is correct. What should it be instead?
