I figured we probably need a stickied thread like this, for the safety of everyone.
This thread is for alerting all webcomic readers when specific webcomic sites are infected with viruses or other malware nasties. None of us want those to spread around, thus this thread. It also will allow us to deal with links on the actual wiki pages in case things get really nasty.
If your anti-virus or other security software picks up on danger on such a site, post it here so others will be alerted.
Every time you visit the comic's site? Check which link you use to access the site; if I recall, some XSS attacks come because you use a link with a bad script embedded in the link itself.
If that doesn't work, let me know, and I'll try to figure out what's going on.
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)Also, Internet Explorer.
Likes many underrated webcomicsActually by "whenever" I meant on each page. I tried to reproduced today, and it started to happen again after I used the archive calendar and clicked on an archived strip (such as August 1st, then the strip that appears). Now, many JS controls (possibly Facebook iframes?) are replaced with a blank rectangle containing a '#'.
"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."Yep, sounds like the links in that calender have those nasty embedded scripts I mentioned. I'll post a warning in the main Dumbing of Age thread.
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)It is a good thing I browse on an Apple laptop.
What were you then doing in the webcomic section?
Or posting in this thread, for that matter.
Seriously, please don't post here unless you have an actual virus/malware/similar issue with a webcomic or related site.
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)No idea whether it's a real threat, but Something Positive and Girls with Slingshots came up with StopBadware.com warnings this morning courtesy of Firefox.
Looking for Group is having similar problems- I think they're on the same servers. Goblins is fine, though.
Yes, anyone hosted by Blind Ferret is having the issue.
All your safe space are belong to TrumpJust got another warning from Girls with Slingshots. Dunno what the Blind Ferret guys are doing, but this is unacceptable
Edit: Scratch that, it seems to be actually for Topwebcomics itself, or and old warning or something. It seems to only happen if I try to use the link to Girls with Slingshots from Topwebcomics. Odd

Norton Antivirus can give a red light to an entire site even if only one page is infected. Fortunately if this happens you can check to see which actual page(s) is/are infected.
Currently co-writing a webcomic you can't read about on TV Tropes because the admins mistook it for porn.Giant in the Playground had a compromise briefly on May 28. You may know them as the host of The Order of the Stick. Info here. This was an issue related to the hosting company and a reloaded software configuration.
The site is safe now but you might have caught something if you visited it during the short period overnight when it was attacked.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I am getting an alert against Dumbing Of Age.
Seconded and confirmed. Not the first time this has happened for their site either (see above).

Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)From what I can tell, all Hiveworks-affiliated sites are giving a Malware warning right now.
I'm getting Chrome Alerts for malware at the Willis comics, Giselle Legace's comics, and Between Failures. Probably the same deal.

And I got alerts for both Paranatural and Manly Guys Doing Manly Things
Bigotry will NEVER be welcome on TV Tropes.Misfile and Spinnerette as well for me.
"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."Geez, this is like a webcomic apocalypse. Hope it is fixed soon.
I seem to be seeing a warning for Questionable Content.
My Games & WritingIf you haven't already, I'd suggest posting warnings in the relevant threads. (I'm working right now, so I can't.)
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)This Google page seems to have some more details about some of the affected sites.
Whenever I visit Dumbing of Age, Internet Explorer 8 displays a bar telling me it "modified the page to prevent a Cross Site Scripting" (XSS attack).
"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."
