YMMV / Yumeutsutsu Re:Master

Go To

  • Adorkable: Ai's shyness, naivete, and generosity make her endearing and lovable to the characters in-universe as well as to the player. She doesn't have a rotten bone in her body and it's almost impossible to dislike her.
  • Funny Moments:
    • The misunderstanding in Saki's route that leads to Kokoro's Ooh, Me Accent's Slipping moment when the girls assume that Ai was keeping Saki in only a swimsuit as part of some kind of sex game they were playing.
    • Ai's dream in Kokoro's route where the latter gives her poisoned miso soup. The list of numerous poisonous ingredients and Kokoro's over-the-top delivery while trying to exorcise Ai turn it from disturbing to hilarious.
  • Heartwarming Moments: Nana is feeling down about failing an audition when the Sound Director at the studio offers her a completely different part thanks to "her manager" who had repeatedly insisted on giving her Nana's tapes directly and hiring her for the part. As soon as Nana realizes that that was Ai, she has her Love Epiphany.
  • Magnificent Bastard: The Mastermind, a.k.a. the Real Ai Otori. She is the soul of Ai Otori who has been transported in the world of NieMajo alongside her sister, Kokoro, while both Nie and Majo have been transported to Ai and Kokoro's body in the real world while having their memory switched with the one whose bodies they occupy. When Ai discovers that both Nie and Majo learned who they really are and are trying to return to their world by changing the ending of NieMajo, Ai- with Kokoro's help- sends emails to Nie, threatening her to stop if she doesn't want to face consequences. When the threats don't work, Ai- using Majo's love for Nie- sends emails to the former to convince her to stay in the real world with Nie, which works and makes Majo try to convince Nie. Should Nie accept, both she and Majo stay in the real world while Ai stays in NieMajo's world with Kokoro. Should Nie refuse, Kokoro would eventually tell Ai that she wants to go back in the real world with her, which makes Ai change her mind and instead help both Nie and Majo in finishing NieMajo.
  • Tear Jerker:
    • Even prior to The Reveal, Kokoro's utter breakdown when she sees that Ai has cut her hair in her own route hits hard. Pre-reveal, the sympathy falls on Ai as she's shattered by her sister's horrible words. Post-reveal, the sympathy falls on Kokoro as she feels that Nie is fully taking over her sister.
Kokoro: What have you done to Ai's beautiful hair!? Demon! Don't talk to me using Ai's voice!
    • Ai Taking the Bullet for Marie in the latter's bittersweet ending and Marie's subsequent reaction. Marie's actress absolutely nailed the pain, heartbreak, and despair Marie is feeling as she cries out Ai's name.
