YMMV / Worst Cooks in America

Go To

  • Badass Decay:
    • Season's 7 Jaleel White served arguably the best first challenge dish in the show's history, wowing everyone with a quite good eggplant parmesan (the only real criticisms being that he sliced the eggplant too thinly and that it was a bit bland), which Jaleel admitted was the only thing he actually knew how to cook (and cook very well at that). Afterwards, though, he struggled to keep up and was eliminated in the next episode.
    • Season 8's Glenda. In the first challenge, before teams are chosen, she showed big potential, and became the only contestant ever that had both chefs wanting her on their team, with Chef Anne getting her. Afterwards, though, Glenda's performance declined quickly, first by being very frazzled and having bad time management, but after she recovered from the time management issue, she served two extremely salty dishes in a row, and was thus eliminated in week 3.
    • A particularly shocking case with Season 8's Holgie. After floundering a bit on week 1 (but not being among the worse ones) she became one of the strongest and most consistent performers week after week. But come the final 6 and she has her one single bad week as she becomes rather flustered, causing her elimination.
  • Harsher in Hindsight:
    • Chet's Elimination Statement in Season 4 that his newly-developed cooking skills will be something he "can use for the rest of my life." He passed away from AIDS-related lymphoma in 2015, just over two years after his season was filmed.
    • Season 20's winner was arrested in January 2021 for murdering her adopted daughter, giving the show's title a disturbing Double Meaning.
  • Trailers Always Spoil: The teaser for episode 3 of season 5 includes shots of Carie in a red apron, spoiling the reveal that Anne would steal her from Bobby's blue team in exchange for Stephanie.
