In general
- Catharsis Factor: Depending on the victim in each game.
- Designated Hero: In almost every game, the protagonist is a straight-up psychopath.
- Designated Villain: Many of the victims are hardly at all deserving of the brutal murders they suffer. Special mention goes to the neighbor and teacher. There are exceptions though, such as the burglars and serial killer.
- Moral Event Horizon: All of the games are just composed of different ways to cross it. Especially Patrick (the "protagonist" of several of WhackIt's games) who enjoys killing people.
- Nausea Fuel: Given that some of the games end up using feces at some point or another (Ex and Neighbor for example), some people will end up feeling queasy from playing these games. If nothing else, the copious levels of blood won't do other people any favors.
- Unintentionally Unsympathetic: The games are clearly supposed to run on Asshole Victim and Catharsis Factor, yet a lot of people find the protagonists to be unlikable due to the sheer brutality and ruthlessness of their murders for sometimes trivial reasons. Patrick from WhackIt's games is a stand-out example though, due to his sadistic and brutal killing methods, as well as the fact that his reasons for whacking his neighbor in Neighbor were extremely petty.
Whack Your Boss
- Esoteric Happy Ending: The game ends with happy music playing while the protagonist spins around holding the boss's head/all of the different deaths are put in a thought bubble from the protagonist as he rests in his meditative state.
- First Installment Wins: While the subsequent games have plenty of fans, this one is the most well-known and liked.
- Signature Scene: The scissors death may be the most popular death in the game, if Markiplier's famous reaction to it is any indication.
- Tear Jerker: For the select few who may at one point end up showing sympathy to the boss.
Don't Whack Your Teacher
- Alternative Character Interpretation: Is the teacher a Jerkass who deserves the punishment he receives, or is he a tough, but fair teacher who cares about his students?
Don't Whack Your Boss With Super Powers
- Hilarious in Hindsight: If you choose the Spiderman glove, the killing blow has the protagonist webbing a copy machine, swinging it around, and whacking his boss in the head with it. In Spider-Man (PS4)'s reveal trailer, Spidey does exactly the same thing to a mook.
Whack Your Neighbor
- Nausea Fuel: One of the kills has Patrick's dog take a dump in the neighbor's mouth and then peeing on his face.
