YMMV / Welcome to the Wayne

Go To

  • Adorkable: Quite a few of the characters.
    • Ansi is an insecure, reserved and a rather neurotic child. And even then, he is very enthusiastic in resolving the mysteries of the Wayne.
    • As cool as she may appear, Saraline's also a socially awkward little nerd.
  • Awesome Moments: In the pilot's final chapter Jonah Bishop bests Masterson and Flowershirt, but in a more impressive feat The Spy from Apartment 8I manages to subdue both Jonah and the boys. They are then saved by Saraline and Lief, the former of which steals back the case with the Arcsine.
    • Ansi and Olly summon the Arcsine, who delivers this Pre Ass Kicking One Liner to the Spy and her henchmen before blasting them away, effortlessly, twice.
    Arcsine: You must go. Now!
  • Fandom Rivalry: Developed a mostly one-sided one with the Gravity Falls fanbase, due to fans of the Disney mystery/comedy series believing Wayne to be ripping off the concept.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: There was a moment in the series where a shape shifter turned into a "copyright-friendly" version of Spongebob Squarepants to which Ansi responded with "I wish I was you" for the shifter's abilities. Considering that WTTW is now regarded as one of Nickelodeon's most obscure series (and one of the most screwed over to boot) while Spongebob to this day remains the top show...
  • Heartwarming Moments: In the pilot there's Ansi's growing relationship with Olly (who's more nicer than in the show proper). Things start off pretty rocky, but as Olly gets kidnapped and Ansi returns to his room he finds that Olly fixed his model kits with a message saying in spite of how overwhelmed he made Ansi feel Olly genuinely considered him a friend. By the end of the episode, they're newfound friendship is cemented.
    • From the same episode there is Ansi's introduction to what would become his adventurous life at the Wayne. Sure, at first he wants nothing to do with either Olly or the Wayne's craziness, but after being thrown out of a window Ansi becomes ecstatic by the experience and begins to embrace high-stakes action. And when the boys are scaling the Wayne building and fighting the robot pigeons Ansi is as happy as one can get.
  • Ho Yay: Olly has a habit of being a little too affectionate towards Ansi, notably having No Sense of Personal Space when it comes to him. Not to mention Olly knows enough about Ansi to be able to predict his decisions (which actually helps to resolve an episode) and will freak out whenever he feels something is threatening the boys' friendship.
    • Mouth-to-mouth re-kiss-itation, anyone? Also at one point their relationship is referred to as a "bromance" and Ansi responds by smiling coyly.
  • Spiritual Successor: When not viewed as a ripoff, some consider the show to be one to Gravity Falls in terms of premise and characters.
