YMMV / Warhammer: Mark of Chaos

Go To

  • Genius Bonus: The runes used in Chaos spell effects are deeply evocative of the Furthark script. One is even exactly like the sowilo rune. Another is exactly like Ingwaz. There's also a bit of the Anglo-Saxon script in it also. Makes sense, the guys who serve Chaos are Vikings and their leader's called Thorgar.
  • Player Punch: For those who'd grown fond of her in the Empire campaign, Aurelion's death at the hands of Lilaeth in Battle March can be this.
  • Spiritual Predecessor: The game can be seen as one to the later, and much more successful, Total War: Warhammer series. With both games sharing the same basic concepts, albeit with a more linear focus on the part of Mark of Chaos.
  • Spiritual Successor: It can also been seen as the spiritual successor to the even earlier Warhammer: Shadow of the Horned Rat and its sequel Warhammer: Dark Omen, which again shared the same basic concept.
  • Visual Effects of Awesome: Despite coming out in 2006, the opening cinematic holds up very well.
