YMMV / Wanted: Dead

Go To

  • Accidental Aesop: The dystopian Crapsack World scenario only happened because China won the war against NATO. In essence, the game acts as a cautionary tale on what will happen should NATO lose to China (and therefore, the complete eradication of the free, democratic world).
  • Demonic Spiders:
    • Ninjas. They hit hard, have an unblockable combo, are hard to parry, and can soak a lot of damage. It's telling that the best way to defeat ninjas are by pumping their heads with lead, combined with incendiary grenades to stunlock them for good measure, rather than fighting them in melee on their own terms.
    • Juggernaut are seemingly designed to waste your ammo in a game where ammo drops are relatively rare and at maximum you can carry two more mags. Getting them to melee has them countering with an unblockable attack as well.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Cinnamon, the tattooed waitress from the intro, is very popular thanks to the promotional music video.
  • Les Yay: Some players (video essayist Jacob Geller, for example) see romantic energy in scenes between Hannah and Vivienne, but it doesn't go anywhere.
  • Moral Event Horizon: Dauer Synthetics firmly fall into the category of villains after it's revealed that their so-called "synth" workforce are actually cybernetic humans kept compliant with a Restraining Bolt.
  • Nintendo Hard: Blade wielding enemies hit harder as you progress, you can only carry two mags worth of assault rifle, and the stages become narrower as you progress.
  • Spiritual Successor:
