YMMV / Vs Hex Mod

Go To

  • Awesome Music:
    • "RAM" is a chill yet exciting song. While it isn’t the first song in the week, it was the only song when the mod is just a replacement for Daddy Dearest’s week, and even with all of the other songs added, it still holds up.
    • Even with the Surprise Difficulty, "Detected" is very pleasing to listen to. It is high-paced and Nintendo Hard, which sets up the intense mood as you try to save Hex from IRIS once more.
  • Common Knowledge:
    • As a result of Fanon Welding, it is commonly thought that this mod, Vs Whitty, The Tricky Mod and other mods where the red eye symbol appears are officially connected. note  In reality, the former is formulated on a stretch and the rest are just Shout Outs. The fact that people from this mod worked on some of these other mods doesn’t help matters.
    • Related to the above, before the Weekend update Jossed it, it is commonly believed that the red eye symbol represents The Greater Good. The connection was a theory born from the aforementioned stretch with no other basis that became so prevalent many mistook it as canon. It got to the point where many believed that the connection was supposed to be revealed and expanded upon in Vs Whitty's WhitMORE update, and when that got cancelled, became a standalone thing as IRIS. In reality, even YingYang48 didn’t know what the virus eye is during that time.
  • Fanon Welding: IRIS' symbol is subject to this ever since The Tricky Mod referenced it before Vs Hex Mod had its Weekend update, with the symbol's appearances in other mods further adding fuel to the fire.
    • The most common theory is that it is connected to the Greater Good, an organization that captures monsters. The reason for this is because you can allegedly see the same symbol in the background of Vs Whitty—the mod where the Greater Good came from—as graffiti in the main week. More concretely, the symbol appears after Tricky gets captured in The Tricky Mod, leading people to think the Greater Good had a hand in it. This theory was so popular, many people mistook it as canon. Ultimately, this theory is Jossed, as not only does IRIS have nothing to do with the Greater Good at all, but it isn’t operating like the Greater Good, as IRIS is a media conglomerate, not an organization who hunts monsters.
    • Another theory which following isn’t as big as the Greater Good theory is that it is connected to the Blind Eye Society, as their symbol is suspiciously similar to this mod’s red eye symbol.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: While they aren’t a media conglomerate located in hell, a fanfic called Living Life as Player 2 has Hex's hackers not only be a separate organization from The Greater Good (the most prevalent Fanon at the time), but also named them IRIS. All before the Weekend update was released.
  • Moe: Hex is a Cute Machine and a Nice Guy.
  • Recurring Fanon Character: Thanks to his kindness, popularity, and his canon friendship to fellow Recurring Fanon Character Whitty, Hex has become one of these.
  • Surprise Difficulty: Week X is very chill, with the climax of "Glitcher" being slightly stressful at worst, and even "Cooling" isn't that bad. Then comes "Detected", which not only features interface screws out the wazoo, but limits healing to perfect note inputs, making it much more challenging than anything the mod has to offer.
  • That One Level: Surprisingly for a chill mod, "Detected". For starters, it is a modchart of the Interface Screw variety, made by the same charter for In the Galaxy, which includes — but not limited to — waving the judgement arrows around, moving it across the screen, changing the speed of arrows constantly and at one point, making the arrows disappear when it gets close to the judgement arrows, and so on and so forth to deliberately screw with the player perception. Oh, and you can only heal when you hit a "Sick!" rating. Have fun.
  • Visual Effects of Awesome: Despite making the song Nintendo Hard, the Interface Screw in "Detected" is downright amazing to look at, especially when the arrows spin in the center of the screen during the final held notes.
