• Aluminum Christmas Trees: Otto is shown having used a parachute when his plane went down. Although parachutes weren't in widespread use during the war - the higher ups were afraid the safety net would encourage pilots to abandon their planes rather than face difficulties - the German pilots were indeed given them in the last few months of the war. This was because they realised they could no longer afford to train new ones to replace those that died.
• Funny Moments: Otto refuses to believe that the war is over because the guns are still firing. Later he and Benjamin are engaging in Snark-to-Snark Combat as they walk.
  Otto: Perhaps you shouldn't inform your enemy that the war is over by pointing a rifle at him.
  Pushes Benjamin offscreen.
  Benjamin: Oh, so you believe me then.
• Heartwarming Moments: Otto and Benjamin's final conversation, where they both acknowledge the scars they carry from the war. When Otto is bringing Benjamin back to his men, it's the first time he calls him by his name.
• Iron Woobie: Otto is a pilot who has shot down 58 planes, had to endure a difficult relationship during the war and it's ultimately proved to be All for Nothing. He remains as stoic as possible.
• One-Scene Wonder: James Mackenzie as the sentry at the end. Only three lines but damn if he makes an impression.
