YMMV / Venturian Tale

Go To

  • Broken Base: Some consider their antics to be funny, while others just find them incessant and grating.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Papa and Billy Acachalla.
    • Also, Ghost and Toast. If the fanart and fanfiction are anything to go by.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: In a few videos they used a Gravity Falls Mystery Shack map, and in the second video they see Bill Cipher a few times. This is ironic because Bill Cipher and his Weirdmageddon wouldn't seem much out of place in the Venturiantale World. (Although their world can still seem more normal than Weirdmageddon and isn't an awful place ruled by a sadistic Omnicidal Maniac triangle.)
  • Memetic Badass: Papa Acachalla, in and out of universe.
  • Nightmare Retardant: Just because a map is creepy won't stop the siblings from goofing off or at least whimpering hilariously at the danger.
  • Paranoia Fuel: Jimmy Casket from the Murder videos. He's always acting suspicious and following the others around, regardless of whether he's the killer or not.
  • Squick: Those aren't beans...
  • Tear Jerker: The "Where are my siblings? - Q&A" video has Venturian answering commenters' questions, usually with his typical comedic flare. However, the video's opening, where he discusses the reasons behind the other three siblings no longer appearing in videos, can strike a very sad chord, especially for those who've watched the channel for a long time. Hearing Venturian sound so serious and quiet when he talks about how they all just grew up and started leading their own lives, and especially when he calls his channel "a grown man, alone, in a GMod server, throwing ragdolls around," has brought many to tears, if the comments on the video are any indication.
    • This pretty much turned into a Harsher in Hindsight moment when Bethany revealed in a video on her own channel that, in actuality, the siblings were raised in an ultra-religious Conservative family that viewed women lower than men, forbade support for LGBTQ+ and even refused to let them have friends as kids, leaving them only to rely on themselves. If they questioned this ideology, they would be disowned, which is what happened to her and Kyodai. So, yeah, they grew up and lived their own lives, but not the way Venturian claimed.
