One that developed pre-release and arguably has little to do with the show itself. As one of the first Syfy original series to follow the channel's cancellations of Deadly Class, Happy! and Krypton (as well as The Expanse, which was revived on Prime Video), Vagrant Queen received heavy blowback from fans of those shows, claiming they were unjustly cancelled to "make room for" Queen and proclaiming their intent to boycott the show and the channel. The creative team behind Vagrant Queen has defended against these assertions, noting that the show had been in development prior to the 2019 cancellations as a mid-season replacement for Wynonna Earp (meaning it hardly would've required the other shows' removal to fit Queen on the schedule) and that the expensive nature of the cancelled series had resulted in a comparatively frugal budget for Queen, rather than increased resources.
There are also fans of Wynonna Earp who mistakenly believe that Queen is responsible for production delays on the new Earp season, due to the two shows sharing Tim Rozon.
LGBT Fanbase: Featuring an explicitly queer protagonist and based on a comic book written by a trans woman, Vagrant Queen naturally has a huge LGBT fanbase.
