- Awesome Music: The 2022 Italian dub contains a new theme song performed by Santo Verduci (who voiced a blue cat in the dub) called "Unico nell'isola della magia". The theme song carries a darker and ominous tone which reflects this movie's darker story line between Unico and Kuruku. An extended version of the song was released on the 6th album of Contactoons to digital platforms on October 26, 2022.
- Germans Love David Hasselhoff: Along with The Fantastic Adventures of Unico, this film has gained a very dedicated cult following in the United States, especially since the Disney Channel used to frequently air the Sanrio film series throughout the 1980s. Not only was it their first exposure to children's anime, but it caused the original manga series to gain an official English translation in 2012. Americans love Unico so much that the Kickstarter campaign for the Unico: Awakening manga was fully funded before it turned 24 hours old. News of the campaign's success actually caught the attention of Scholastic, who announced that the new Unico manga series will be published as part of its Graphix imprint line.
- LGBT Fanbase: Some LGBTQ fans believe Piro/Marusu the sphinx cub to be non-binary since the character's gender is never brought up in the film. Fans familiar with the original manga claim the character to be trans since Piro/Marusu was a male in the manga while still having a feminine design.
- Retroactive Recognition:
- Once again, Barbara Goodson (pre-Power Ranger fame) reprises her role as Unico. Cheryl Chase (Angelica Pickles) also voices one of the crying demon children in this movie. Cheryl Chase also voiced Beezle in the English dub of the first movie.
- In the Japanese version, the ending theme is sung by Emiko Shiratori, who would become better known for the theme of Final Fantasy IX, "Melodies Of Life". The theme was changed to an instrumental in the English version of the film.
- Lord Kuruku is voiced by Jan Rabson, who Phelous fans might recognize as the voice of Old Man from Good Times' Beauty & the Beast.
- Superlative Dubbing: Like The Fantastic Adventures of Unico, the English dub for this movie is very well-done. While Barbara Goodson's performance as Unico only adds more charm and cuteness to the character. Jan Rabson's performance as Lord Kuruku is both intimidating, humorous, and emotional. Especially during the film's climax where Jan Rabson sounds like he's about to cry while Barbara Goodson's performance only adds extra sense of sadness and love to the situation Unico is in. Lara Cody also delivers a decent performance as Marusu/Sphinx's Daughter where she perfectly captures her short-tempered but sweet attitude, notably with her heartfelt speech to Unico about "Cheri leaving him behind out of love".
