• Don't Shoot the Message: The book undermines its message of interracial collaboration by having having the mutant members of the team presented as in the wrong while gushing over Captain America's charisma. Further, the human members ignore the valid concerns that having Steve being hurt or killed in fights against mutant terrorists is a massive PR risk to mutantkind. This isn't helped by Deadpool outright calling the mutants, who are currently suffering another attempted genocide, stupid not to follow him since they're losers without his help, suggesting marginalized people cannot hope to advocate for themselves but instead must fall in line behind their privileged allies. There is also a layer of irony with Deadpool saying this when their main enemy is HYDRA Steve Rogers, as the last time he mindlessly followed "Steve" based on reputation his life was completely ruined being an Unwitting Pawn to HYDRA Steve's takeover of the US.
• I Knew It!: A sizable portion of readers guessed before the book even came out that Captain Krakoa was the HYDRA Steve Rogers from Secret Empire.
