• Angst? What Angst?: When Hitsugi was critically injured during battle and brought in for medical attention, Arashi expressed that he knew getting angry and acting recklessly would do no good in this situation. However, he couldn't help himself from feeling frustrated and wanted to avenge her badly.
• Broken Base: A bit worse than its sister manga. Some think that the action is very bad in terms of throwing reality out of the window (e.g. Sayo's strength) while others think that it's cool.
• Les Yay:
  • Chikage reacts rather enthusiastically toward Mikoto's display of kindness; Mikoto has noticed but never really puts up much resistance. When Chikage returns in Volume 16, one of the first things she does after making her presence known is to kiss Mikoto and declare herself Mikoto's "prince".
  • Yuko and Miki.
  • Yuko and Sayo as well. The OVA explores their relationship in depth, starting with how Yuko almost killed Sayo when they first met years ago. Yuko took total responsibility for Sayo's physical and mental recovery, and the two became very attached over time. The OVA ends in the present with everyone in the hot spring bath, Yuko reminisces about the past, and asks if Sayo would like to kiss her. Sayo just smirks.
• Narm: Mikoto comforting Arashi over Hitsugi being hospitalized by embracing him would have been a heartwarming moment had she not been smothering Arashi in her breasts.
• Spiritual Successor: This is going to be High School of the Dead in terms of having a zombie-like outbreak caused by scientific research. Considering the passing of High School of the Dead's writer, this is likely as close as we're getting to any sort of successor.
• They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: The manga didn't reveal details on what drove Inui aka D to commit a terrorist attack.
