YMMV / Trespassers of the Multiverse: Gaiden

Go To

WARNING: UNMARKED SPOILERS.

  • Adorkable: Idou Metta's general personality smacks of this. It helps that most of the characters who come from modern settings (everyone who isn't Garnt or Bisnif) come from more technologically advanced worlds, thus amazing him with technology.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Chizuru, who's so popular that, in the words of Elf, "she's probably going to be bodily dragged onto the ship at the end of this plot." In a popularity poll done for the game, Chizuru and Idou both topped the results.
    • Nick and Jack Sloane, the first two named Armored Riders in the HERO plot aside from Penelope and Tatsuya, are also well-liked. This is despite them thus far starting as antagonists. In the same poll done earlier, the Sloane brothers took second place behind Chizuru.
    • Gogo, the Mysterious Being who opens up the second sidequest, is also pretty well-liked himself for his kindheartedness and also for his Plucky Comic Relief tendencies.
    • Edmond is far and away the easiest example to pick for this for the second game — though his concept wouldn't appear to immediately stand out, his consistent sanity and level-headedness lead to him topping a popularity poll and getting leadership of a squad later despite no stated leadership feats.
    • Stellio and Proditor manages to accomplish this in Director's Cut, the former coming in first place of the game's Popularity Poll despite being one of the newest characters added in, while the latter tied or second despite not doing much.
  • Fan-Preferred Couple: Eirika and Mio. Almost EVERYONE ships the two together.
    • Chizuru and Idou. It helps that Idou is an incredibly well-liked party member and Chizuru is an Ensemble Dark Horse. It ends up being canon.
    • In V2 there's Mitsu and Navin.
    • Also in V2 there's Kusuke and Satomi.
  • Fridge Brilliance: Sachi and Mio Honda both have the same Leitmotif, Ifuudoudou from Yuki Yuna is a Hero. This in and of itself is not unusual; the RWBY characters of the first game also shared a theme. What is is that both girls have different themes as their character themes from Katawa Shoujo. Specifically, Mio shares Hanako's theme and Sachi shares Emi's; their bond is close enough that even their themes coordinate with each other.
    • Similarly with their Flower Motif: Mio has a Dianthus, signifying her status as a Lady of War, but Sachi has a Pansy, signifying her status as a Humble Hero. However, Sachi also has the Dianthus, both tying her to Mio as well as hinting at her true Silk Hiding Steel nature.
  • Funny Moments: In a meta example, Empi's creation process. One of the players suggested that one of the players make a character named after them after bandying ideas about for an Expy of Kyu. The player obliged.
  • Heartwarming Moments: Mio and Eirika confessing their feelings for each other.
  • High-Tier Scrappy: Mio's sheer power compared to the majority of the characters was a subject of salt throughout the original RP. This was only quelled when she was nerfed to more reasonable levels.
  • Moment of Awesome: Whenever a Theme Music Override takes place, you know the enemy is going to die painfully.
    • Especially in the climax to the Yuki Yuna plot, where there was a dual Theme Music Override between Mio and Aesford.
    • Chizuru and Idou's re-entry into the game by pulling a Big Damn Heroes and knocking over Nick and Jack. Points not just to Chizuru and Idou, nor their child Asuka who then attempts to finish off the Armored Riders, but to Nick and Jack, who counter the incoming Finishing Move with their own Finishing Move.
  • Ships That Pass in the Night: Jack Sloane and Musashi. This is based primarily on a conversation between Nick and Yamal about Musashi; the latter hasn't even appeared in the game, let alone met Jack.
  • The Woobie: A LOT of characters in the first game:
    • Eirika is the vessel of Grima himself. If you've seen the game, you know why this is bad.
    • Mio has her sister die in a Heroic Sacrifice to save her life, has to deal with the constant pressure of saving the world from the Vertex and loses her parents at a young age as well as going through Training from Hell to become a Hero.
    • Ian loses his girlfriend to a murderous kidnapper Huntress, among other things.
    • Anna watched the vast majority of her home town die all at once, and blames herself.
    • From the second game, Mitsurugi and the aforementioned Sachi.
