- Awesome Music: "Paint It Black" as an opening song. That is all. (In fact, many people learned about The Rolling Stones because of the show's use of "Paint It Black").
- Spiritual Successor: Afghanada is a Canadian CBC Radio successor of this series. However, it features Canadian soldiers serving in Afghanistan during The 2000s and The New '10s.
- Retroactive Recognition: It seemed appropriate (and eerie) to have the Angel of Death serving a tour in Vietnam.
- Values Dissonance: The show's dialogue occasionally used racial slurs aimed at the Vietnamese and minority members of the cast. Although appropriate to the setting, it is now unthinkable that a network drama would be allowed to use such offensive language without significant backlash.
