Garlic is a 2D action platforming game released in 2023 for the PC.

In this game you play onion-headed boy named Garlic. Garlic has taken a liking to Cyber Goddess, wishing to climb the Sacred Tower to seduce her.

The game takes inspiration of many precision platformers such as Super Meat Boy and Celeste, using most of the stock obstacles in platforming games.

Not to be confused with Garlic, a 2020 game.

Garlic contains examples of

  • All the Worlds Are a Stage: Zone 12, The Top, combines all previous worlds.
  • Blob Monster: Blobs of various sizes act as a common enemy.
  • Breath Weapon: Snakes in Zone 8 breathe fire.
  • Checkpoint: Checkpoints are indicated by small flagpoles. These are places Garlic respawns after dying.
  • Collision Damage: Colliding with an enemy without doing the attack does hurt Garlic.
  • Confused Question Mark: When Cyber Goddess opens up a locker to find it empty, ? appears in her speech bubble.
  • Conspicuous Electric Obstacle: Zone 6 has two types of electric obstacles. First there are electrodes that periodically shoot electric current between them. The second are sparks that travel along the wires.
  • Dash Attack: Dashing into enemies usually damages them.
  • Deadly Droplets: Zone 2 is littered with droplet hazards. Fortunately, most of them are marked with "!" in a speech bubble to make it easier to notice them.
  • Down the Drain: Zone 2 takes place in a sewer-themed environment.
  • Escape Sequence: Zone 2-7 is an autoscrolling level where Garlic must outrun a 6-legged creature.
  • Eternal Engine: Zone 4 takes place in a factory producing...something. Zone 6 is a power plant.
  • Eye Pop: When Garlic sees Cyber Goddess for the first time, his eyes extend.
  • Flame Spewer Obstacle: Some areas, particulary The Foundry have pipes with various types of fire hazards. One type spews out flames at regular intervals. Zone 7 has statues that breathe out fire in a similar manner, albeit diagonally.
  • Fireballs: Rotating fire sticks made of balls of fire act as a hazard. Some fireballs emerge from fire below in Foundry level.
  • Floating Platforms: Many platforms float mid-air. Some are static, some move.
  • Goomba Stomp: Most of the enemies can be stomped on.
  • Heart Symbol: Hearts can be often seen when Garlic thinks of Cyber Goddess.
  • Inconveniently-Placed Conveyor Belt: Zone 4, the Factory, is littered with conveyor belts with no purpose other than to impede the player.
  • Instant Bandages: Zone 6 boss has a hit animation where a pair of bandages appears on him.
  • Lethal Lava Land: Zone 3, The Foundry, is fire-themed.
  • Multiple Endings: The ending depends on how close you got to the Cyber Goddess.
  • Post-Defeat Explosion Chain: Bosses produce multiple explosions after being defeated.
  • Saw Blades of Death: Aside from reciprocating saws, Zone 4 features buzzsaws as a common obstacle. Buzzsaws move back and forth along the surface.
  • Slippy-Slidey Ice World: Zone 11, the Permafrost, is ice-themed.
  • Solid Clouds: Clouds can be jumped on. Though they disappear after doing so.
  • Smashing Hallway Traps of Doom: The player encounters crushers quite frequently throughout the game. For an example, in 1-7, sections of wall, some with spikes, move up and down.
  • Spike Balls of Doom: Zone 8 introduced spiky metal spheres that swing back and forth.
  • Spikes of Doom: Spikes are a common obstacle throughout the game.
  • Springs, Springs Everywhere: Jumping on a cloud makes Garlic bounce up in the air.
  • Super Drowning Skills: Garlic dies immediately upon contact with water.
  • Temporary Platform: Many platforms collapse after being stepped on. Usually, temporary platforms are thinner than normal platforms. A few platforms activate and decactivate based on jumps. For an example, the ones in Factory.
  • Unexpected Shmup Level: Zone 5-8 is a horizontal-scholling shoot-em up where Garlix rides on a giant squid while operating a machine gun.
  • Video Game Dashing: Dashing is one of the basic abilities Garlic can do. He can dash in 6 different directions.
  • Wall Jump: Garlic has the ability to jump off walls.
  • Waterfront Boss Battle: Zone 2-10 is a boss stage where Garlic fights a fish over deadly water with platforms sinking into the water.
  • Wrap Around: The game has a few vertical sections that wrap around. For an example, in the very first zone, if the player goes off the screen from left, he appears on the right and vice versa.
  • Written Sound Effect: Doing a Goomba Stomp makes "POW" text to appear.
