  • Aluminum Christmas Trees: Mike Tyson's story about becoming a boxer after having his bike stolen is actually based on a true story. A young Cassius Clay was angry that his bike had been stolen and was told by a police officer that he should learn how to box if he wanted to get payback if he ever found the thief.
  • Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: The red blood cell cartoon that turns out to be a commentary on Police Brutality and AIDS, which is followed by a brief interview with its angry black woman creator, including a clip of a character she created for Sesame Street who... didn't last long on the show. This has pretty much no importance to the plot, but it's still funny as hell.
  • Funny Moments: Too many to count.
    • All of Lance Armstrong's appearances. Hell, the fact that he even agreed to be in the mockumentary despite having been disgraced due to doping.
    • The introduction of present day Marty Hass has him turning to the camera with a ridiculously goony smile.
    • The completely nonsensical credit card commercial, and the ensuing discussion of how confusing it is.
    • Mike Tyson's bike getting stolen is recreated in Punch-Out!!-style graphics!
    • Rex Honeycut doing BMX stunts, with multiple reaction shots from one onlooker.
    • The fact that a pileup-crash occurred because Juju got distracted by groping a bikini clad woman.
    • "Hey there Huey! Want to play a numbers game?" "Shut the fuck up!"
    • "Can you ride fast?" "FUCK YOU! NEXT QUESTION!"
  • Genius Bonus: Could be coincidental, but Jeff Goldblum and Danny Glover (2017 Marty and 2017 Skip, respectively) previously appeared together in Silverado, in which Glover's good guy killed Goldblum's baddie. In this film, Glover's character prevails over Goldblum's again.
  • Special Effect Failure: Danny Glover's wig as older Skip is so obvious that it adds to the hilarity of it all.
  • The Woobie: Marty Hass. While he was ridiculously clueless about his fellow Nigerians and Africa in general, this was due to his sheltered, pampered upbringing. He comes across as dim but genuinely well-meaning, cheerful, and nice (both in 1982 and even more so 2017) yet has been despised by his countrymen for decades for both his youthful posturing and coming in second in the Tour de France (though the fact that Skip won made them happy at the same time). On top of that, he lost the possible love of his life, Adrianna, when she was sent to prison for the death of Rex. At least he's handled all this well, though his cluelessness might have to do with that.
