• Hype Backlash: Kiely has not been looked upon favorably by many fans in retrospect and her talent as a singer and performer is often questioned. She was often featured as the group's center and sang the first verses, despite her lackluster performances during the group's formative years, which included her Autotuned solo lines in "No More (Baby I'ma Do Right)." This isn't helped by the fact that her Stage Mom (her older sister and legal guardian, Michelle Williams [not that one]) was the manager of 3LW, indicating that favoritism had a lot to do with uneven line distribution to the members, and she was the one who threw a plate of hot food at Naturi, which was the breaking point that caused the latter to leave. Also, while Adrienne had apologized to Naturi in 2017 for turning on her, Kiely has yet to give a response.
• Memetic Mutation: While the phrases "players gonna play" and "haters gonna hate" had been around for a while, "Playas Gon' Play" brought them to mainstream popularity.
• Narm: Kiely's dance segment in "Feelin' You" is supposed to come off as sexy, but it looks like she's doing a reenactment of a fish flopping on dry land.
• Overshadowed by Controversy: Naturi infamously left the group right before the release of A Girl Can Mack, causing the release date to be moved to two months later and eventually to underperforming sales. "Neva Get Enuf" and their Christmas album Naughty and Nice were considered failures, to the point where Adrienne and Kiely had to recruit a third member to avoid disbandment due to the financial loss.
