  • Angst Dissonance: Augie's oft-expressed disgust toward Wade (and toward Jin for working with him) in the last few episodes of the first season comes off as more than a little myopic and unreasonable. It's fair enough for her to be horrified by her role in the destruction of Judgment Day — more than a thousand people, including many children, died, and no one really knew the extent of the San-Ti plan at that point. But once it becomes crystal clear that the San-Ti are coming to Earth with the intent of wiping out humanity, Augie still complains endlessly about Wade's ruthlessness — which, again, is in the service of saving the human race. She finally pulls her Screw This, I'm Outta Here after Will agrees to have his brain placed in an interstellar probe. That's undoubtedly a weird and unpleasant thing to contemplate happening to your friend, but Will truly was on death's door already, and he consented to it. She seems utterly incapable of grasping the reality of the situation facing humanity and complains as though she is merely working for a national government that is engaging in unethical practices, instead of working for a project aimed at saving the human race from annihilation.
  • Older Than They Think: Some book readers thought that "San-Ti" was an Adaptation Name Change, but that's actually what author Liu Cixin called the home planet of the aliens in the original Chinese version of the book (with the name of the aliens themselves being just "santiren", or "three-body people"); "Trisolaran" came from the English translation.
  • The Stars My Destination is the name of a novel by Alfred Bester. "The Stars My Destination" is both the name of episode 6 and the name of an organization in the story. While the name could be a nod to the book, there doesn't appear to be any other connection.
