Then, as the runaway theme kicks in, he is horrified when he realizes there's nobody in his cab and he can't stop. What's worse is that steam locomotives like James are both alive and sentient, so James is aware that he can't control himself without his driver and fireman. There's also the shot before James starts to panic, his empty cab and his throttle at full speed.
• Unintentional Uncanny Valley: When Edward pulls up to the signalbox to pick up James' fireman, he is missing his eyebrows, causing his face to look a little off.
