- Germans Love David Hasselhoff: The 1980 anime series is a staple of children's entertainment practically all across Europe. In Hungary for instance, it became one of the most famous pieces of animation ever, and is still shown on television. Its influence even reached unrelated media — perhaps the strangest example is in the 2nd Hungarian dub of Batman: The Animated Series, wherein Harley Quinn gives the Affectionate Nickname "Smirre" to the redhead Poison Ivy, after the famous red fox of the anime series.
- Viewer Gender Confusion: In general, the anime series follows a Pale Females, Dark Males rule with the geese, but Akka is a female goose with dark, masculine colors. It doesn't help that some dubs give her a male voice actor.
- What Do You Mean, It's for Kids?: The book was specifically designed to teach about Sweden in an entertaining way, but it actually has some rather dark moments, including several animal characters dying.
