YMMV / The Wavering Peahen

Go To

  • Catharsis Factor: Lila's Smug Snake antics and seeming ability to get away with everything she does is taken apart by creating a situation that forces her to put her money where her mouth is after she's given the Peacock Miraculous. It soon becomes clear that, for all her delusions of grandeur, she's really not very competent or capable. Despite her fantasies about destroying Ladybug, Lila doesn't have any fighting ability, which gets her easily and humiliatingly curb-stomped every time she tries to go toe-to-toe with the heroes, and it also quickly becomes clear that she doesn't have the creativity to use the Peacock's powers effectively at all. Her ego continues to take a battering from both the media and from Hawk Moth throughout her brief career as a supervillain, and finally her abuse of the Miraculous leads to her downfall, with her secret identity publicly outed, her reputation destroyed, and Lila herself going to prison to suffer the consequences for her crimes.
  • Unintentionally Sympathetic: Some people in the comments of the story noted that, while Lila was unquestionably villainous and deserved punishment, they weren't sure if she truly deserved the 50 year sentence (which exceeds the theoretical maximum juvenile sentence in France by 20 years) or to be permanently afflicted with debilitating symptoms from using the broken Miraculous. While there's an in-universe justification for why the heroes don't heal her — the only thing that can heal the problems caused by a broken Miraculous is wearing that Miraculous, and if the heroes give Lila the Peacock Miraculous to wear and be healed by, they can't be sure she won't try to use its powers to escape — but it still rubbed some people the wrong way.
