- Adaptation Displacement: Despite being the first time Disney has adapted Robin Hood to film, it's usually forgotten thanks to the animated version which was released 21 years later. Especially notable considering all the similarities of the films; they even share the same basic climax, down to Robin being wounded and diving into the moat to escape Nottingham castle during a night raid. The Errol Flynn film also remained a Tough Act to Follow for it.
- Awesome Music: Alan-a-Dale's songs are all funny or heartwarming, and suit the time period well. "Whistle My Love" is a particularly sweet one.
- Retroactive Recognition:
- Stutely is played by Bill Owen, who would later be best known for playing Compo Simmonite in Last of the Summer Wine.
- Little John is played by James Robertson Justice, who would later be best known for playing Sir Lancelot Spratt in the Doctor... Series.
- Spiritual Adaptation: One of many Robin Hood films that is a spiritual adaptation of Ivanhoe.
