Seeing Black Pearl intimidate and blackmail Chrysoberyl into becoming her spy is a great instance of Laser-Guided Karma, seeing how Chrysoberyl is now at the mercy of the very gem she mercilessly tortured and turned into a Humanoid Abomination.
After all the horrible things she's done, seeing Black Pearl get easily overpowered and tortured by White Diamond counts as this for those who don't think her sad backstory excuses her current cruelty.
Crazy Is Cool: Black Pearl might be an unhinged sadist, but damn does she make insanity and bloodlust look cool!
Draco in Leather Pants: Due to her sympathetic backstory, a lot of readers are all too willing to overlook the fact that Black Pearl does many heinous things in the comic with a disturbing amount of sadistic glee, including but not limited to forcing a rebel gem into a fusion, deliberately torturing a rebel gem so said gem's screams can act as a signal to the rest of the group that Black Pearl is coming, and blackmailing a refugee gem into returning to slavery. Most readers seem to view her as, at most, an Anti-Villain who hasn't really done anything wrong and just needs someone to bring her back to the light side through love and affection.
Jerkass Woobie: Black Pearl. She's a sadistic, violent assassin who doesn't care about who she hurts so long as it gets her closer to taking revenge on Rose Quartz, the (apparent) killer of her Diamond. However, she used to be a much more pleasant and kind gem before she was subjected to Project Black. Her constant torture under Chrysoberyl, who subjected her to excruciatingly painful experiments and ignored her desperate pleas to stop, along with the trauma of losing Pink Diamond after being separated from her, beat all that out of her and left her as little more than an Ax-CrazyEmpty Shell.
The rebels Black Pearl is sent to intercept. They're just trying to help two of their friends and most of them end up becoming collateral damage when Black Pearl starts tearing through their ranks to find and retrieve Moonstone. Special mention goes to Agate, who is first tortured for information by Black Pearl, then suffers a Fate Worse than Death when Black Pearl forcefully fuses with her, leaving her a grotesque husk when they separate.
Moonstone. She used to be an oracle at White Diamond's court, until Jade and the other rebels freed her. However, Moonstone's former master was unwilling to let her go and sent Black Pearl after them, resulting in Moonstone having to see several of her friends get hurt or killed just to protect her. Then she's forced to watch as her lover, Jade, is poofed by Black Pearl before having to perform a Heroic Sacrifice by letting Black Pearl take her back to Homeworld to keep the friends she has still left safe. To make all of this worse, thanks to her powers, Moonstone knew all of this would happen but still couldn't do anything to stop it.
