- Bizarro Episode: In what is usually a fairly grounded animated sitcom, this episode is a musical about the Simpsons meeting a magical nanny.
- Crosses the Line Twice: The Krusty Komedy Klassic being held at the Apollo Theater (a well-known venue for African-American talent, particularly singing and stand-up comedy) and Krusty's reaction to the big white letters reading KKK with him onstage.
- Harsher in Hindsight: One gag showed Skinner trying to sell Jimbo on the side of the road. Jimbo asks if this is legal and Skinner replies "Only here and in Mississippi." Turns out what Skinner said about Mississippi was accidentally accurate: in 2009, child selling was made illegal in Mississippi after a woman sold her granddaughter for $2,000 and a car, and state legislators realized that there was no law preventing her from doing that.
- Hilarious in Hindsight:
- The entire episode (particularly the bit of Shary Bobbins cutting off Homer when he asks if she is Mary Poppins while clarifying that she is a completely original character like "Rickey Rouse" or "Monald Muck") is this now that Disney owns Fox, therefore owning the Simpsons.
- Krispy Kreme got in some trouble when they discovered too little too late that their Krispy Kreme Klub spells out an unfortunate acronym.
- Padding: While writing, Al Jean thought that the songs would stretch out and make the episode the proper length but it was considerably shorter than required. Several additional scenes, such as the Itchy & Scratchy segment, were added to pad out the episode.
