Trivia / The Simpsons S8 E13: "Simpsoncalifragilisticexpiala(Annoyed Grunt)cious"

Go To

  • Approval of God: Zigzagged. Quentin Tarantino was supposed to voice himself but he took umbrage with Adam Westing by justifying the extreme violence in his films. Not that it stopped him from later showing up in an interview wearing a shirt that has his Simpsonized self ranting about it.
  • Blooper: During the end song, Homer can be seen dancing along but not singing; this was because the producers forgot to record Dan Castellaneta.
  • Creator's Favorite Episode: In 2014, Al Jean selected it as one of five essential episodes in the show's history. Mike Reiss considers it the best episode he co-wrote.
  • Cut Song: This episode was originally going to feature Patty and Selma singing "We Love to Smoke", a parody of the Mary Poppins song "I Love to Laugh". This was included on the album Go Simpsonic with The Simpsons and the actual sequence of Shary Bobbins taking the kids to see Patty and Selma and ending with the song (and Bart and Maggie coughing up cigarettes) is featured on the Simpsons season eight DVD set.
  • Permanent Placeholder: Originally Julie Andrews was going to play Sherry. But during the initial table read Andrews wasn't available and series regular Maggie Roswell filled in. The producers liked it so much that she ended up voicing the character.
  • What Could Have Been: The episode was scheduled to have Julie Andrews (Mary Poppins' actress) as Bobbins and a cameo by Quentin Tarantino, but scheduling issues and issues with the script respectively made the regular voice actors do the characters instead.
