YMMV / The Simpsons S5E20 "The Boy Who Knew Too Much"

Go To

  • Accidental Aesop: Skipping school and trespassing on private property is good because it might help you save an innocent person from going to prison for a serious crime he didn't do.
  • I Am Not Shazam: Homer calls the orca as "Free Willy" even though "free" in the title is not part of his name but the task in the movie.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight:
    • Contains one of the show's harshest swipes at Disney—a gag where Dr. Hibbert lists Walt Disney alongside Adolf Hitler as one of history's few carriers of an "evil gene"—which is, of course, now viewable on Disney+.
    • Skinner, trying to think like Bart, is baffled when he doesn't find him (or anyone else) at the local 4-H Club, which is supposed to show that his age and love of Incredibly Lame Fun have made him terrible at judging what modern kids would want to do with their time. However, in Season 19's "Apocalypse Cow" Bart would eagerly join a 4-H club upon realizing that it will enable him to operate a combine harvester, so maybe Skinner knew his quarry better than we thought.
  • Memetic Mutation:
    • "Am I so out of touch? No, it's the children who are wrong."
    • From the Latin Spanish dub, the butler's "Soup a l'oignon" and Freddie's mocking of the poor guy's accent and pronunciation.
  • Woolseyism: In the mexican dub, the butler's french origins are emphasized with a more pronounced stereotypical accent and him calling the clam chowder "Soup a l'oignon". Freddie's mockery of the servant comes across as far more vicious in this version as well.
