• Hilarious in Hindsight: The concept of a Water Tribe Avatar dying relatively young, and then an Earth Kingdom Avatar being wrongfully chosen. This mirrors the canon prequel novel The Rise of Kyoshi but this idea was being worked on by the team before that novel's release, unintentionally making a History Repeats scenario for the comic.
• Tear Jerker:
  • Korra's funeral in the prologue is this. Jinora gives out her eulogy to her late friend all the while everyone Korra has helped mourned the loss of the Avatar.
  • The confirmation that much of the older characters including Katara, Zuko, and Toph have passed away.
  • Imagine how Tonraq and Senna feel...
  • Poor Tenzin had to outlive his own student and surrogate daughter. The fact that he passes away before Book 1 also means that he never got to meet Korra's true successor.
