YMMV / The Killing of a Chinese Bookie

Go To

  • Captain Obvious Reveal:
    • It's treated as a twist that the "bookie" whom Cosmo is sent to kill is actually a big-shot. However, right from the start, the mobsters admit that none of them have been able to get at him and are willing to forgive a $23,000 debt ($107,000 in 2021) to have him killed. When the mobsters outline the plan, they explain that he has a guard house full of armed guards outside his home as well as attack dogs and trip wires. Obviously he's a wealthy and important person.
    • It's also pretty easy to predict that the mob would want to kill Cosmo after performing the hit to sever any connection to themselves. Do you think they're just going to let Cosmo walk away free and clear knowing what he knows?
