- Retroactive Recognition: Several actors appeared on the show before becoming famous.
- Edward Asner in two episodes, "Wall of Crystal" and "The Miracle".
- Karen Black in "The Ransom".
- Dabney Coleman in two episodes, "The Innocent" and "The Saucer".
- Dana Elcar in "The Pursued".
- Jonathan Goldsmith in "Genesis" (billed as Jonathan Lippe).
- Louis Gossett Jr. in "The Vise".
- Peter Graves in "Moonshot". It was one of his last roles before he took over Mission: Impossible.
- Gene Hackman in "The Spores".
- Barbara Hershey in "The Miracle".
- Ted Knight in "Valley of the Shadow" and "Summit Meeting (Part Two)".
- Jack Lord in "Vikor".
- Wayne Rogers in "The Spores".
- Jack Warden in "The Ivy Curtain".
- And not only that, In "Wall of Crystal" Asner's character is a mob boss-like alien leader who goes after an Intrepid Reporter played by Burgess Meredith. That's right, the episode has a couple of scenes that feature Lou Grant menacing The Penguin!
- Too Bleak, Stopped Caring: The show depended on Failure Is the Only Option to keep going. The aliens could never stop Vincent, but he in turn could never prove their existence, and no ally he gained could ever help him in any lasting way. The introduction of the Believers in the middle of season two might have been an attempt to avert this trope, and towards the end of the series Vincent starts getting some measurable wins in against the aliens.
