YMMV / The Hanged Man

Go To

  • Alternative Character Interpretation:
    • Are the things Will is seeing real or is he imagining them?
    • Is Robert a good man pushed to extreme means to protect his brother or does he have unresolved issues like his brother?
  • Awesome Music: While there's not much music in this game, the theme which plays to Will fleeing from Ed, gives an impression of a calm dawn after a horrific night. It represents how Will has come to terms with his issues and found a solution to them.
  • Catharsis Factor: After learning what Ed has in mind for Will and actually seeing him attempt it, it becomes quite satisfactory to see Will grab the gun and turn the tables on Ed in so merciless way, it causes Ed to lose his cool and sob pahetically.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: a new character is facing off supernatural horror? Awesome. Said character is a relative of a previous protagonist? Really awesome. All protagonists come Back for the Finale? Wicked awesome! Except, instead of all the previous characters, now all veterans of the supernatural, banding together to help Will fight off the Big Bad, they're dispersed for the whole game.
    • David only appears briefly in the very beginning, and even more briefly in certain endings. His friends Paul and Marion are absent. Helena appears only in the good ending.
    • Even more glaringly, the previous protagonists (save for Sophie) treat Will's claims of supernatural apparitions as bogus, despite all of them having gone through similar experiences in their respective games.
      • Though the reason for Keith's doubt, despite The Boogie Man suggesting otherwise, probably has to do with the events of the game being Maybe Magic, Maybe Mundane.
