YMMV / The Eleven Little Roosters

Go To

  • Base-Breaking Character: The Sex Von Shaukel Boyz, which is largely due to a variety of things; mostly their large focus, amazingly overdramatic tendencies, and the fact that they pretty much ignore everything related to the actual point of the series (the mole, other assassins' deaths, the Griffon actively hunting them) to focus on their band in a form of incredibly over-the-top Skewed Priorities. The 360 videos focusing around them were base-breaking themselves, with some believing them to be pointless or annoying to find clues for, and others believing it to be a fun challenge to prepare them for the series. The overall opinion on Funhaus (the people who play them) has only made this worse, as their overall association with Rooster Teeth was already controversial. Naturally, not all were pleased that they turned out to be the Sole Survivors, albeit with one casualty.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: With the exception of the above-mentioned Boyz, pretty much every character is well-loved by the fans. Since some are developed far less than the others though, they fall into this.
    • Boomerang Geoff became this almost immediately after the original teaser trailer. Once it starts, both him and The Griffon continue to be this in the series proper.
    • Due to him being killed off in the first episode after having no lines, Jack the Red became this to many, especially if he was as much of a jerk as the rest of the little roosters made him out to be.
    • Upon the reveal that Gavin the 3rd had a second personality in the form of Operator Mikey, and that they were the Saboteur the whole time, and even go by the name "Mavin"(their actor's ship name), they immediately became one of the biggest examples of the entire show.
    • Pretty much every member of the Ministry of Moose has become this in some fashion, especially Agent Kojima, who is actually played by the REAL Hideo Kojima. Agent Kojima's popularity grew even larger upon the reveal that he was a mole himself, working with the Little Boss(played by Jeremy Dooley), which actually has a seemingly split personality shared with someone played by Lindsay Jones. Actually, everyone in that final scene of the finale is one.
  • Even Better Sequel: Both the production and writing have largely been considered an improvement over the last series. This is especially impressive considering Ten Little Roosters had a good following all on its own.
  • Fridge Brilliance: The metagame is more or less built on this. After watching an episode, a participant will have to figure out where any codes might be hidden, or if something a character said may have been important.
    • During the emergency meeting, everyone present says something at some point... except for Gavin the 3rd. Given the fact that he's the Saboteur, he was most likely trying to avoid suspicion.
  • Fridge Horror: If Boomerang Geoff and The Griffon are the real Geoff and Griffon Ramsey, having gone off the grid, what happened to Millie?
  • Harsher in Hindsight:
    • The below-mentioned They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character issue with Ryan became this in the wake of his horrifying 2020 sex scandal that led to him leaving the company in disgrace. While his status as the hero of Ten Little Roosters is some major Harsher in Hindsight material, the fact he was Demoted to Extra ironically makes Eleven the more palatable of the two as it's much easier to watch and enjoy without him by just skipping his brief moments as they ultimately have zero impact on the plot.
    • However, Adam Kovic, who also had a similar scandal resulting in his leaving the company in the same week Ryan did, also has a sizable role as one of the Sex Von Shaukel Boyz, which somewhat dampens this.
  • I Knew It!: People were speculating that Christoph Weiss was actually Chris Demarais since the first episode.
  • Narm Charm: The attempts at foreign accents are ridiculously bad for the most part, but it only serves to add to the comedy.
  • Nightmare Fuel: The ending of Episode 6 was surprisingly disturbing and a far cry from the comical style the show had created. Admittedly, it starts humorously, as Christoph's death is in itself a Shout-Out to the death of Gandalf. However, the scene ends with Christoph slamming into the ground and then resting in a pool of blood. The camera captures all of this and even lingers on it for an uncomfortably long time.
  • Rescued from the Scrappy Heap: Since Agent Knuckle is actually working alongside Moose, and not outright replacing her, she has started to receive a warm welcome from the fanbase.
  • Strangled by the Red String: Many found the reveal that Hadam and Moose are in a relationship in the fourth episode to be out-of-left-field and rather ham-fisted, although it corresponds with the reveal that Hadam is Canadian, not Russian.
  • Tear Jerker:
    • Marquee Marquis's death. It's deliberately displayed as an eerie mirroring of his father's death, and the scene ends with Marquee's last words being "I'm coming, papa." as he imagines his late father beckoning him into the afterlife.
    • If you think about it, the deaths of the Rooster Teethers (Geoff, Griffon, and Chris) are quite tragic. They managed to escape the murder house their company had become, only to end up dead later on anyway.
    • Agent Gibson's whole subplot; he hates how Agent Jinx gets all the attention, and his self-esteem is cripplingly low, leading to Jerkass outbursts against the others. The fact that he is genuinely good-looking (after all, it's Blaine) yet not even Gavin the 3rd wants to bang him makes it even worse. His death is almost heartwarming in a sad way as well, because he dies in the midst of a "sexy fight" and seems to be happy for the first time all series.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: This was largely the overall reaction to Jack the Red's surprisingly early death, as we didn't even get a single line from the guy before he was killed off.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot:
    • Jack the Red's death disappointed many fans, as they were anticipating some interactions between him and Boomerang Geoff (as their actors are close friends).
    • Many believe that they could have expanded upon the past relationship between Agent Moose and Comrade Hadam, as the relationship was seen as an interesting surprise. But due to Comrade Hadam's death in episode 4, the exact episode the plot-line was introduced, this will never happen.
    • Ryan being Demoted to Extra after the teaser initially indicated he'd be the main character results in this. Though most seem to adore Moose as the protagonist, Ryan's role is so minor in the series that he doesn't even appear for several episodes, and ultimately feels somewhat like The Artifact given how little he ended up contributing (something he lampshades in the last episode). In particular, we never even see his and Moose's first introduction, which, given she looks identical to the woman who tried to kill him in the last series, would have made for interesting development.
  • Too Cool to Live: Jack the Red is considered this by many. Pretty much every Rooster that doesn't survive the series would also qualify.
  • The Woobie: Agent Moose, as she accidentally murdered her ally, Jack the Red, in a fabricated assassination file, was more or less fired (disavowed, to be more specific) as the representative of the Canadian Assassins League, watched her former lover get killed, and now has to put all of her time into trying to find the mole in the Rooster Corps just to get her job back. And then finding out that she was being used as a pawn for the Colonel the entire time and her whole assignment was really just a ploy to lure Ryan out of hiding so he and Mavin could eliminate him. Honestly, it makes you kinda want to give her a hug.
