YMMV / The Cramp Twins

Go To

  • Base-Breaking Character: Both of the titular twins depending on whether you like the show or not. People that like it tend to like Wayne and root for him over Lucien. People who hate it, vice-versa.
  • Diagnosed by the Audience: Wayne displays several traits of ADHD. Namely his hyperactivity. Then there's also his very obvious symptoms of Antisocial Personality Disorder aka sociopathy.
  • Heartwarming Moments: The episode "Worm Funeral" had Wayne giving Lucien's dead worm a funeral which was probably the only nice thing he's ever done for Lucien. Granted, it didn't last long as Wayne starts to obsess over Egyptology (mummifying various stuff and building a junk pyramid), but it was nice while it lasted.
  • Jerkass Woobie:
    • Lucien can be this to a point. Yeah, he's an Insufferable Genius but try living with that borderline sociopathic brother of his.
    • Wayne and Mr. Winkle, from time to time due to how Wendy Winkle treats them.
  • Nausea Fuel:
    • While trying to escape Ms. Hissy in one episode, Wayne dives into the sewer and gets stuck in a pipe. When the flow of the six o'clock flush proves too much, Wayne is pushed out of the sewer in a geyser of waste.
    • The episode "Spit Collector" revolves around Wayne collecting other people's and animals' saliva so as to hide the fact that he's been gorging on a highly addictive candy that turns your spit green. Cue the disgusting collection process.
  • Nightmare Fuel:
    • Wayne's Slasher Smile can have this effect at times, such as "Lion Worrier" which ends with an extreme closeup of one Wayne gives directly to the camera.
    • Mrs. Cramp, with her obsession with cleanliness. A prime example would be "Holesome" where her obsession with testing a rather acidic experimental cleaner led to some creepy parts like her coming up behind Lucien with her own slasher smile and then laughing maniacally when it eats away his shirt. Or "Lice-ense to Kill" when she pulls out electric equipment to kill the lice on Wayne's head and then barges into Lucien's room with an extreme closeup on her deranged face.
    • In "Wicked Wendy", the titular Stalker with a Crush deliberately rigs an Olympic trampoline so that when Wayne uses it, he bounces out of control and injures himself. He only bruises his leg, but Wendy treats him like he’s broken it. She then proceeds to smother him in bandages and lock him in her bedroom. When Wayne tries to escape, a nurse doll acts like an alarm system, repeatedly saying “Naughty, naughty, back to bed!” The whole episode is essentially “My first Misery”.
  • Retroactive Recognition:
  • Rooting for the Empire: Wayne may be the show's main antagonist, but some fans say they prefer him over Lucien.
  • Squick: Plenty, since the show relied a lot on gross out humor.
    • One found in the opening of the show where the twins are seeing being born, held upside down and spanked. A normal practice backthen, but still discomforting to see at the time, but what really pushes it here is Wayne smiling afterwards with the parents even looking discomforted by that. Made even worse in a version where he even sounds like he enjoyed it!
  • Too Bleak, Stopped Caring: Many viewers find this show off-putting due to its mean-spirited nature and obnoxious characters and Lucien never catching a break. Not helping is the fact that Lucien really isn't much better than Wayne by comparison at times so there's really nobody to root for most of the time.
  • Tearjerker: It's Played for Laughs but at the end of Keith, Wayne seems to be genuinely torn up over having to give Keith to Dirty Joe.
