YMMV / The Book of Unwritten Tales 2

  • Anvilicious: There are many elements in the game that were strongly inspired by current events happening on the globe: the waves of war refugees gathering around Seastone are possibly inspired by the Syrian refugees, the rich merchant's electoral campaign brings to mind a certain divisive figure in the American election and the young, ineffective protesters can be construed as a critique of Facebook activism.
  • Cry for the Devil: Mr. Fox used to be an upstanding journalist who abandoned his ethics in favor of achieving professional success under van Buren's regime. He brokers illegal business agreements, turns a blind eye at the shady things happening around him and is reduced to a simple lackey who drowns himself in alcohol. And yet it's hard not to pity him even a little bit when one seems just how deeply miserable and demoralized he is, and how he is too mired in his self-destructive circle to save himself. It's implied he realizes (very bitterly) that selling himself to van Buren wasn't worth it, but cannot go back to what he was before.
  • Even Better Sequel: The game received very positive reviews, and it is considered to be more complex and polished than the first installment.
