- Awesome Music: This game's soundtrack is very strong.
- Cult Classic: The game was a passion project by its developer that flopped in its day, but despite its difficulty it remains an underdog favorite among NES players.
- Demonic Snakes: There's several pits of snakes in Argolis under the temple of Hermes. But unfortunately some of the pits are also bottomless pits.
- Friendly Fandoms: With Zelda II: The Adventure of Link due to the similar game mechanics and artwork, good music, and high difficulty shared by both games.
- Genius Bonus: The player needs to rescue a child from the Lamia. In actual Classical Mythology, Lamias were supposed to abduct and eat children.
- Goddamned Bats: Bats in the caves of Argolis. Quite a few of the enemies cross into this territory.
- It's Hard, So It Sucks!: Limited health, annoying enemies, tough jumps, and being very easy to get lost makes for one difficult game. The game received a lot of criticism for its difficulty, which chased away new players and makes it very hard to get into it for those who gave it a shot. In an interview with the game's creator, even he found it too difficult."I made it too hard!" he laments. "I can’t finish it. When I was developing the game, of course, I finished several times, but now? It’s impossible, yeah. The final boss is awful!"
- Nintendo Hard: Tough enemies, difficult bosses, and rather cryptic progression. It's a test of endurance and will to beat this game. Helene better be worth it.
- That One Boss: The Lamia. Near perfection is required to beat this thing.
